Goodell - NFL to look into banning the 3pt stance
This pursuit of reducing concussions is becoming less & less intelligent by the day, how more ridiculously can you get? How many concussions come about from firing out of a 3pt stance, seriously?
Let's just got the whole hog, remove the O-line and play 5 on 5 flag football, this is just pathetic. Combating concussions is massively important but the powers that be at the NFL seem to be showing a very limited amount of intelligence in trying to reduce the amount of concussions in the NFL.

I read this too. Unbelievable.
"Goddell" as they call him on the net is out of control. At least Tagliaboob was smart enough to just stay the hell out of the way.

Re: Goodell - NFL to look into banning the 3pt stance
There are helmets that protect players' heads much better than the current model. The NFL should require those, and stop messing with the game.
This is just another reason Johnny Unitas will always be the NFL's best QB. He played in an era when defenses weren't forced to play with their hands tied, and QBs and receivers weren't treated by the rules like fragile glassware in a league that has sought to maximize offense for many years. Unitas also never played indoors.

why don't they just limit linemen to 4 years in the league, like college.

Amen brotha. And:Gotta give props to all those QB's that played prior to the 1978 rule change. It was a very different game then.
I'd like to see how Manning and Brady would do today if their O-line had to keep their hands on their chests while pass blocking defensive lineman who were head slapping their way into the backfield. Meanwhile the receivers are getting mugged by the DB's not once but twice inside 15 yards of the line of scrimmage.
They'd be saying WTF!!!????They would also suddenly decide to run the ball a LOT more.

Yes!! Finally...
I am tired of all the questions surrounded Manning. Is Manning the best QB to ever play the game. He is very good give him that and probably in the top 5-10, but not the best.
For one just like you said, how many times has Manning been completely creamed by multiple defenders, how many times has Manning gotting up with a bloody nose and packed mud in to stop the flow, how many times has Manning been hit way after the ball was gone. How many times was Manning hit helmet to helmet or neck tied or head hunting. The way the pussified QB rules are today I would say that he is probably one of the smartest because he knows that defenders can't demolish him and that alone gives an ease while in the pocket.
Unitas defined the QB position, and I don't care if they say he is not the best, but to me, as a man to come in and play this mans game and take a beating and eat dirt and get up and do it the whole game is how the position should be played. Unitas was a true Man (QB) as were alot of the old school guys.
Also take into account the great field conditions they had back in the day and the great equipment.

Both of them would get destroyed. I think there are a few QB's that would survive in that era, but no Lady Brady or Flop before i get hit Manning.
Farve (wouldn't have played 19+ years but he is tuff)
Warner (samething)
Rodgers
I even think Flacco has the tuffness.
Shitlessburger would have played a few years but as much as he holds the ball he would have gotten hit 20+ times a game and would be done after 3-4 years due to concussions.

Yeah, QB's had shorter careers back then. I'm amazed that Unitas lasted as long as he did. I've heard Hall of Fame D-lineman say that they swore that Unitas held the ball a split second longer than he had to, when he was about to get creamed, just to show that he wasn't afraid of any man.
I saw him throw one pass, without the slightest cringe or change in throwing motion, knowing full well he was about to get speared in the ribs at full speed by a blitzing LB. It made me cringe just watching it.
I think Roethlisberger would have done well back then. He's tough. Favre would have been great too. Brady and Manning...I'm not so sure. They are great players in todays league but I can't see them taking the punishment without it affecting their play.

Re: Goodell - NFL to look into banning the 3pt stance
Ban the 3 point stance ... funny.
If the NFL ever decides to really get serious about concussions, they will start looking into radically different helmets.
Specifically, research suggests a helmet with a soft outer surface would help to slow the deceleration of the head in a collision, thereby limiting the "brain bouncing off the cranium" effect that causes many concussions.
One prototype helmet is highlighted in the links below. It has soft pads on the inside, a hard shell in the middle, and a soft outer shell to cushion blows.

It is made by the same company that introduced "pro caps" many years ago. Pro caps may have helped, but players largely ignored them because they looked ridiculous.

It's even more concerning when you see guys with a history of concussions not looking after themselves and continuing to use inferior technology rather than these more modern, technologically advanced lids.
