Philly Newspaper Says Our "Offense Pushed Them Around"

http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/15300132.htm

"On the negative side, the Eagles defense was pushed around for much of the first half, even though the mistake-prone Ravens were able to generate only one field goal, a 30-yarder by Matt Stover."

"In the first half, Baltimore had 192 net yards, compared with 123 for the Eagles. McNair completed 14 of 18 passes for 148 yards and no interceptions. What was alarming for Eagles fans was how wide-open the Ravens' receivers were on many plays."

"However, unlike the Ravens, the Eagles' receivers consistently found trouble getting open, forcing McNabb to throw some passes away.

It is good to hear another team's perspective. Our offense is actually getting respect. I think I am going to do the happy dance.

Re: Philly Newspaper Says Our "Offense Pushed Them Around"

I agree with that. Our mental mistakes and the Refs were killing us despite that we were overall playing better than the Eagles. In the regular season that might have been one of those frustrating losses where none of the breaks go your way. I'm good at spotting THOSE games immediately, and last night had all the makings of one.

Still the fact that we were in it at halftime, where in the past the wheels might have come off by then was encouraging. We still had a chance to win the game thanks to our offense.

Re: Philly Newspaper Says Our "Offense Pushed Them Around"

Here are two of there fans comments. I bolded the two most relevant points. Remember these are Eagles fans.

Buckhalter did not look all that good, I don't know what the point of this article is? He did nothing on the ground and was gift wrapped that screen pass by over pursuing lineman and excellent blocking downfield, he did nothing special at all! This team is in trouble, contrary to what most reporters here say. The offense was gift wrapped 10 points in the first half on some horendous calls against the Ravens that kept drives going. Better make a play soon for Lelie or Justin McCairns of the Jets... this offense needs a lot of help.

I hate to be on the negative side, but Buckhalter only had one big play. Look at his carries - 5 for 8 yards. Without that one big play everyone would be on his case today for not playing to potential. Then we would hear everyones concern for depth at the RB position. The problem with the eagles on offense is that they have five running backs that play the same way in addition to their five mediocre WR's. I still like the eagles chances this year, but it all falls on the number 5... and there are far too many questions about that number.

Re: Philly Newspaper Says Our "Offense Pushed Them Around"

I thought last nights game had all the makings of a typical Ravens win. We get behind in the first half. Then if we had played the starters in the second the offense would have started to click, we would have tied it up quickly then Jamal would have worn out the Eagles defense and with one defensive score, add in a couple of Stover specials, and we would have had a typical Ravens win. I dont count the stuff that happened in the second half cause there was just way too many scrubs on the field for both teams, this is just how I feel it would have played out if it had been a regular season game.

For a while there, I was thinking that Lelie would be a smart aquisition, considering the problems Clayton was having with his hamstring.

Two things have caused me to change my mind: Devard Darling and Demetrius Williams.

We need to keep five wideouts. Mason, Clayton, Darling, Williams, and Le Tendress. Amazing depth, if you think back to just two years ago.

Sephy, thank goodness you showed up. My poor attempt at a gamethread was pretty piss poor because no one was around to do the play by play like you do. Welcome in dude!

Re: Philly Newspaper Says Our "Offense Pushed Them Around"

Interesting. This is the second straight team that said their starting defense got "pushed around". Hopefully this bolds well for an offense that can establish the run and maintain drives...keeping the other teams offense and (more importantly) the Ravens defense off the field.

Re: Philly Newspaper Says Our "Offense Pushed Them Around"

we will murder people this year in the 4th quarter. 8 and 9 minute drives are just not fair. It's ridiculous.

Remember last year vs the Colts we were only down 3-0 it was as our D wore down that we lost.

This year a couple of those long drives means our D will make quick work of the opposing teams offense, they will be fresh and even better the opponents D will be phsically exhausted come the 4th quarter

Re: Philly Newspaper Says Our "Offense Pushed Them Around"

If our offense can stay on the feild for 6 to 7 minutes a drive, that's great, even if we don't score!
