Lightbulb Junior Seau to un-retire?

Okay, this is a little odd, especially after that sermon type retirement speech the other day.

Seau may un-retire to play for Pats

NFL.com wire reports

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (Aug. 17, 2006) -- Junior Seau is looking to join the New England Patriots, just three days after the San Diego Chargers threw him a lavish retirement party.

"Junior left a message for Chargers President Dean Spanos today alerting him that he may sign a contract and play for the New England Patriots," the Chargers said in a statement. "If, in fact, he chooses to continue his playing career, we wish him good health and the best of luck this season. Junior's place in the Chargers Hall of Fame awaits him when his career is over."

Re: Junior Seau to un-retire?

Junior Seau does a nice U-Turn.He's made some boneheaded statements over the last few years. And this is a boneheaded return. If he had anything left then he'd already be on an NFL roster.I suppose squeezing a few more $$$$'s out of a team for a washed up body, can't be all bad.

It shows you how desperate a situation the Pat's are in to consider this.

And he did a great job of stabbing the city of San Diego in the back too. Retire before the season starts while they expected him to be on the roster, then turn around and play for the Patriots?

Really classy move.

I just thought it was so weird how, he gives this preaching retirement speech, and then Thursday evening we are hearing he is likely to sign with the Patriots.

TD, you're right about the Patriots probably being desperate right about now to sign him.

Seau was actually a free agent. He was released from the Dolphins earlier this year, and was set to retire as a Charger. That was until the Patriots came calling. NFL Network said that the Redskins were interested in him, but the feeling wasn't mutual.
