Claims Jamal is good for essentially "at least 1300"
My question is...against whom? Jamal isn't going to get 300 total yards against the Ravens like he did against the Browns. Plus the Steelers always tended to play Lewis well.
KC / Detroit / Denver / Chicago / Pitt / Cincy / Oakland / Baltimore / New England / Miami / St. L / Seattle / Pitt / Balt / Houston / Arizona / NY J / Buffalo / Cincy / San Fran.
I don't know...I just don't see 1300...or maybe Jamal finally got motivated, dropped weight to speed up and actually did the rehab on his ankle that's never been right since 2003.
I don't wish ill on Jamal, but I'm really not seeing how you can say McGahee won't get 1200 and then say Jamal will get 1300 on a substantially worse team at the moment.
It all depends on that Cleveland line and fullback. We'll see if Steinbach is worth the money, if Thomas can hack, and if Bentley has really recovered.

Jamal looks like he's in the best shape of his career. It wouldn't surprise me to see him get 1300 yards or more. I believe Jamal thinks he has something to prove. Too bad it took getting cut and almost no serious takers on the open market to get the man to train hard [at least he looks that way from the pix I saw].
After the past two seasons, I'm glad the Ravens cut bait with Jamal.

There are about 5 or 6 teams Jamal would not having a problem breaking over 100 yards. in regards to the other teams If Jamal ran for 65-80 yards a game he'd come close to the 1300. I've always loved his running style. It wont be fun finding out he still has it especially since he is in our division, we'll see. I wish him well regardless of where he is playing, he was one of my favorite ravens.

It would have been nice to see him come to Ravens camp in such good shape.
He was a malcontent troublemaker here and now that he's somewhere else he gets himself in shape? How long before he starts groaning there?
I don't care if he runs for 1600 yards, and McGahee runs for 1200, I'm glad to see him gone. At least when McGahee was in Buffalo he had legitimate reasons to gripe.

I agree, there is a chance he could do it...especially if he's in really good shape. I'm just not sold on him really looking that good because he said the same thing every year with the Ravens it seems.
My main point, is that I'm absolutely not sold on any kind of guarantee or real expectation. What really got to me is the supposed change in level of preparation...if it really did change, then Jamal should be happy he's in Cleveland. If you need lack of respect for motivation, then I suppose a few substandard years and a small contract with a new team will do that to you. That's where Festivus is, as usual, spot on
I wish him luck, though I doubt he'll find much room to run against Baltimore, I'm with Crazy on that one.

I have to agree Festivus----
I loved the contributions Jamal made when he was healthy. The Ravens stood by him during his legal troubles and compensated him very well. However, when things didn't quite go jamals way he whined too much.
Plus he was really a two down back. As stated earlier given everything I'm glad he's gone. I'd bet he'll be on his best behavior this season trying to cash in with someone. Once he does back to the old Jamal.
Jamal looks in much better shape than the past two seasons.

I'm sure the Ravens will make sure he doesn't get over 100yrds against us. Even with Thomas I don't think their OL is any good.

Who cares? He won't get that many yards against us and the Brownies will still suck.
Good luck to Jamal and God speed......

I think Jamal will do well this season. He has much to prove and will be ready to come the start of the season. I had no hard feelings against Jamal, I always liked his running style and what he brought to the game. It could interesting .....

I've been on record as saying that Jamal definitely has some tread left on those tires and could have a very solid season.
Of course he could've played better last year but our OL was a joke when it came to run blocking.
As far as him being a trouble maker.
I disagree. What people tend to forget is that when you got those quotes or sound bites from Jamal last year, it was after he was asked a specific question. He answered honestly. He wanted the ball as much as possible. I don't blame him for that. He didn't throw anyone under the bus. I never heard him say "I would've had a better game if our crappy center could hold a block" or anything like that. He was frustrated as hell. Weren't we all?
Jamal was actually a very quiet guy who was by all accounts well liked by pretty much everyone in the lockerroom.
Maybe I've got a soft spot in my heart for a guy who carried the load for this offense for a bunch of years. And he didn't have much help.
I know he wasn't always in the best shape and people claimed he was a smoker etc.....
But that guy ran his ass off for us and I enjoyed it.

1300 yards over a 16 game period amounts to 81.25 yards per game.
Doesn't exactly sound ground breaking to me.
At 25 carrys per game, he could average 3.25 yards per carry to reach that 1300 yard mark.
Certainly 1300 yards a season is nothing to sneeze at, but I'm not so sure 1300 yards out of your feature back is a great achievement if your offense is centered around him getting most of the touches if that's what Cleveland decides to do.
I'm assuming Peter King is watching Jamal run against basically the same Cleveland defense in practice as the one he's been shreading since he stepped foot on an NFL field.
Let's see what happens when the real action starts before we declare him a pro bowler this year.

Jamal was supposedly in the best shape of his life last season. Let's see how he holds up once the Stains are 2-7.
That said, I wish him the best, but I am glad we moved on from Jamal. I am excited about Willis McGahee.

Jamal probably could still run for 1300 yards. The problem is that the Browns will probably be playing from behind in a lot of games. If the Browns can hang in the games late, he has a very good shot at 1300. Maybe more.

And THAT is the key right there TTRaven. It's all well and good saying that Jamal's going to get 84 yards a game but that's if they can afford to give him the ball. Thier defense is still VERY suspect and they don't even know who thier starting QB is going to be. Jamal's not going to get the ball as often as he'll need to get those 1300.
Good luck this season Jamal, just not against us.

1. Jamal is an asshole, no one likes him.
2. Jamal sucked, the OL sucked at run blocking, and he still sucked anyway.
3. Even if he DIDN'T suck, and it was totally the OL's fault (a possibility) it was just time for a change of scenery.
4. Peter King also proclaimed from Redskins training camp one year that Danny Wuerful (sp?) might throw for 3500+ yards and 20+ TDs.

1300 is way to much for a browns rb. He will have to work much harder to get 2 yds. Besides the mighty ravens and the shitburgh d will only give him, maybe 65 yds in those 4 games.
I doubt it ...1300 yards?? 1300?? Jamal left the Ravens ( a very good team) for the Browns ( a very bad team). He couldn't do it here because during the McNair transition the Ravens had to depend on the run, and defenses put 8 and 9 men in the box. With the Browns Offense you can bet opponents will be loading up. ...Peter King...The name says it all.

I saw Browns Minicamp on NFL Network. Jamal was looking very fit with great feet. He was showing a burst that we haven't seen here in a long time. We'll see what happens when real hitting starts, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a ressurection year.

1. Just because you seem to dislike Jamal certainly doesn't mean his teammates didn't. Many of them went out of their way to say how much they will miss him. They don't have to do that. And ask anyone who was in that lockerroom if he was disliked. You won't like the answer.
2. Our run blocking was horrendous last year. I agree that Jamal could've played better as well. Turns out he was getting shots in his ankle before every game.
3. Probably.
4. I agree that King's analysis etc.... leaves alot to be desired. Im certainly not basing my thoughts on anything he's written or said. I've been on record saying that Jamal isn't done and will surprise alot of people this year.

Jamal has a one year contract. If he wants another pay day he must run well.
I've been to camp 3 times and Jamal hasn't been out of breath after a run like the last few years. Well not yet

Jamal on the cover of SI this week. Its weird seeing him in the ugliest uniform in sports. Also puts the jinx on Peter Kings prediction.
