Haven't seen if we've done one of these. If not, just put a number you think we'll draft at (in case of trade) and who you think we'll take...

29 - Ryan Kalil, C, USC

I've stayed out of draft scouting this year, so I'll be suprised at whoever the pick is...

That said, I'd say I feel about 70% sure it's an OL, but the Ravens might throw that curveball of looking for the dropped gem.

I heard we were scouting Troy Smith at one time...I know he's not first round, but what's his overall status as far as the draft this year (where's he projected? Did it seems like the Ravens were impressed or not?)

The rumours are that we want him in round 4 and they've been around for a while. He's almost certainly dropped out of day one.

i bet tampa moves up and tries to get an WR at 29 and we get both of there second round picks, and we get gubbs at 36 or the center out of Usc

If he's still there at 25, they wouldn't need to. If Quinn gets past Green Bay and Jacksonville - look out. Ravens could theoretically trade up to 22 to get him.

We'd have to get to 22 to get him. No way he gets past KC. I also think it's quite possible someone in the top of the 2nd goes and gets him. A friend of mine was saying there was talk of Det trading with Den for the Broncos to get CJ, but they didn't have the ammo to do it. But if Quinn's still there, they may do Den's first next year plus a 2nd and 3rd this year for CJ/Quinn swap.

Remember that TB also has two second round picks, so they've definitely got the ammo to go get him.

If he gets past Jacksonville then the Giants would be our likely trade partner. We apparently discussed potential trade details earlier this week so that'd be an obvious partner to go back to if Quinn were still there and we were interested.

If Quinn's still there . . . . . . :nerd:

I want a big fat man for the o-line . . . . . is there any out there????

The C Kalil has looked impressive in the tapes I have seen, but that is only the tapes I have seen. I like that pick, if we can replace Flynn with him and use Brown and Chester at the Gs with JO and Terry I like our OL. Can't recall the last time I thought we were a draft pick at C away from a good OL.

Anyone get the feeling that Jax trade was their way of positioning for Quinn at the lowest point they can get away with? Dallas, KC, and Carolina were the only other teams I could see going for him, and unless someone trades up before them, they're in a prime spot for him...

suddenly, I'd like to get him...Quinn is no Aaron Rodgers, and he'd be the type of gunslinger I'd like to see groomed to be here.

wow!!! So many great players left on the board, I would bet that Ozzie is salivating over many opportunities that look like they will be available for us at 29.
I am not sold on trading up since it looks from the trades that have occurred so far seem to have included many picks for one. The Jacksonville trade just had Denver giving up three picks to move up 4 spots. I don't see the Ravens willing to give up that much to move up when there are so many great players out there!
That being said, I wouldn't curse the opportunity to bring in Brady Quinn if he is the best player available on our board.

Im sorry but knowing now that ogden is coming back for just this year i will do anything i can to get quinn. not too crazy but there is nothing else really that we need other than ol which can be situated in the 2nd or next year. the qb spot has always been the problem and everyone knows that. think of how nice it would feel to have a franchise quarterback. its a risk just like boller but you have to try it. besides ozzie knows what he's doing.

I'm holding my breath until the Patriots are done at 28. They are in prime position to trade away that second 1st....or to take the player Ozzie is seeking.

UKRavenStockers

I'd like us to move for Quinn.

But I think we'll stick at #29 and the Bears or Browns will skip above us for Quinn if the Jags don't take him at #21. Moving to#20 is still an option but I don't think we will.

now that quinn is gone, staley, spencer and gubbs still on the board

Sephy
04-28-2007, 04:38 PM
Kolber just said the Ravens tried to trade up for Quinn at #22.

Cleveland got absolutely KILLED by that trade. The only way that's a good trade (a top 10 pick next year, plus essentially a late first rounder this year) is if Quinn becomes a pro bowler.

Savage is way, way overrated.

Us getting on the phone could be down to a few things:

1) Us wanting Quinn, very possible.
2) Us getting wind of the Browns wanting him and so we just got involved to drive up the price on the Browns, which I'd hope for and would be excellent GMing from Ozzie as ever. :)

I want us to trade down, but would be happy with either Houston or Ross. I would be upset at this point with Staley or Spencer.

Official guess, trade back.

UKRavenStockers

According to Schefter we were on the phone with Quinn as the Browns got the trade done with the Cowboys. Schefter is an odious little scrote so I choose to ignore him.

ExiledRaven

I think there was some of both...but revenge might certainly have been a factor here since word from everywhere was the ozzie was pissed at how phil handled the trading last year

Let's trade back and pick up a 3rd.

Chris Houston, Branch, or Staley is my guess at the moment...

staley stolen by the 49ers.

This will be interesting to see

Spencer's gone and now the best OT that was left. Damn Mike Nolan!!! I so wanted Staley, I could taste it...Arrrgghhh!!!
And for those of you that think we are going to take Grubbs, think again...history proves it...he went to Auburn that's not going to happen.
I wouldn't be surprised if we took Harris, LB from Michigan or Blaylock from Texas. I like Sears from UT as well.

donnaj
04-28-2007, 05:40 PM
Chris Houston is still left, but I don't know if we would take him over some of thoe others left on the board. He would be a great addition to the secondary, though.

Very solid pick. Immediate starter. If Terry holds up ok at RT we have an excellent line for next year.

Guard in the first is poor value IMO. For what you can get from other positions I don't think a guard can ever be that good. Grubbs will be very good I have no doubt, but I think a guy like David Harris could have more impact, I just don't like the idea of drafting a guard in round one. But if he turns out well as I expect then I'll not be unduly unhappy with the pick.

donnaj

So it appears that Vincent is gone now! That will save cap space. It looks like our starting line will be
Ogden, Brown, Chester, Grubbs, Terry

I am still in shock about Ozzie taking a player from auburn. I am so glad that the history of his draft was purely coincidental.

ExiledRaven
04-28-2007, 05:58 PM
this is good for a lot of reasons, two of which being flynn's days are numbered at best for him, vincent is out as soon as the "b" in Ben Grubbs.

Anyone that thinks Savage made a bad move to get Quinn with Thomas is either certifiably insane or drinking gallons of purple Kool-Aid. The price was high, but it was a fantastic day for the Browns.

Too bad we missed on Staley, but Grubbs is a great pick. Would have liked Poz! But Grubbs is great, and our OL could be fantastic depending on Terry...

Getting Quinn: good.

Paying what they paid: idiocy.
