Just wanted to say I made it over here. While I was surprised to get the news that a new forum had been created, I think it's definitely a great idea considering how the quality of the other board had gone downhill. I'm glad to have gotten the message to come over here. Not trying to sound too corny but I almost feel honored that people think my posts are a decent contribution to the board. :D

I like the new layout.
I'm keeping both of my old handles, so no one will have trouble telling who I am.

Looking forward to starting off anew with a clean slate.

BTW...one minor issue: the rendering for Firefox isn't quite right.
That's a small quibble. I'll just use Netscape for message boarding from now on.

Wow another nice new home, moving message boards for a new start is nothing new for me this year as a large group of brits felt the need to start up a new place away from the official NFLUK website after that place went to pots. Hopefully this site will turn out to be just as good as the new site that us brits have created because that has worked pretty damned well and having got to know lots of you on YBR there's no reason why this new place won't be a great place to chat Ravens football and football in general.

HI could use mista t as a referer.....you had to space it though. "mista t" and it worked for me.

Anyway love the new "refined" smooth look..very nice. Just will take some time to get use to how to get around....just like a new car...

I do find it funny how this is suppose to be a "nice board" , no talking down to people...and the first emoticon i see is some guy bending over pulling down his pants! NICE! hehe just ironic.

I think it's unfortunate that things have gotten so bad as to require a new home for people who don't want to deal with the garbage from the other forum. I hope the moderators realize that the same thing will inevitably happen here, no matter how aggressively these boards are moderated; there will always be abrasive people who stay within the rules, yet manage to make things less enjoyable. Short of running the board by invite only, there isn't really a solution, and I don't believe an invite-only board would be nearly as popular. Hopefully you guys (and gals) can figure out a way to encourage discussion and debate while discouraging those who just want to cause trouble.

In any case, thanks for inviting me along for the ride. I hope it works out well.

Actually, you can do it. I think you just have to be aggressive in moderating. If you're being abrasive and managing to make things less enjoyable, then hopefully you're not obeying the forum rules and you get tossed.

There's always been a difference between civil debate and what YBR has turned into. Maybe a fresh new message board is just what we all need to remember we're adults.......and Ravens fans!

Just for reference to others and as you can gather from my sig, I was formerly known as Superboller1. I am loving this board and this 24x7 website. Because my time only allows me to participate in one board, this will be my exclusive place to talk Ravens football.

I tried to get to this board, however, from the home page and it took me to a different board. I have this listed in my favorites, but when I return to work next week, I will need to get to this board. Hopefully, that will be taken care of soon.

AdminRaven, I'm still waiting for a friend of mine to get back to me about the smiley's.
I had a question about the user titles. Right now most of us are rookie Ravens. I remember at YBR 2,500 post and you we're a HOF Raven. Will the top level you can reach be a little past that? Say 10,000?

There is a system in place. Right now I think it tops out at 5000 but we could add a new one at 10000. Something like 'I have no life like Crowdog HOF Raven'.

Were also working on custom titles for some of the high post count guys/gals.

All in due time.

I figure I'll be bouncing back and forth. At least until this place becomes the definitive hub for information. I had a reinforcement today of how bad YBR has gotten was when I made a simple post saying that I thought Ogden's weight gain will be a relative non issue and I got personally attacked.

I may lurk on YBR for a little while, but I'm probably done posting over there. It looks like the good group has migrated over here, so what would be the point of joining those arguments? The tone of hostility got so bad I succumed to it myself from time to time, which is not my usual style. But the theme of nastiness and exchanges of insults can become contagious, which is why I so welcome this board.

There were other problematic issues too, of course, but why rehash that now. Let's celebrate this new chapter. Thumbs up, and thanks, Tony!

I will be exclusively at this board. I have officially retired Superboller1, and I have signed my contract to post here, exclusively, after a lengthy holdout while negotiating with Bert. :D Bert offered me a signing bonus of 50 cents and I held out for 51 cents. :D

I am pretty close to making this my exclusive board now too. Just too many people over there that really make you want to stop posting on message boards altogether. As far as I am concerned with the people that are signed up here now you could cut off automatic registration and go with an actual activation process. I think all the good posters are here now.
Agreed. I almost think we should implement an approval process like a country club. Someone brings up a poster for registration an the Mods decide if they are legit.

Unfortunately we would miss out on people who followed college players (like all those Oklahoma guys and the Oregon guy) who come and give us the inside scoop.

There has to be a happy median. Outside of those college guys, I think we pretty much got everybody though.

Its amazing how much slower it is and how all the post counts are low. I guess it was time for us to move on and let the next generation have YBR. When they're ready to move up to this board they should get the invite.

As for the college posters, who knows how far Tony will take his vision. Maybe he can get a partnership with National Champs website and that will allow for that crowd to post here around drafts, etc.

I say we let the old place die a slow, lingering death. I wouldn't have a problem with a screening process starting right about.....now. I'd like to see the place grow, but we don't want standards to decline.

BTW...I really like the design that's being implemented. I woke up this morning, logged on, and was like...wow. Someone did a lot of work overnight. It's really looking great.

Or a fraternity. We can haze any newcomers (give wedgies to traffic cops on Pratt Street, steal panties from the Laundromat on Eastern Avenue, that kind of thing), film it, review the video and decide if the person is worthy.

While I think a screening process has its merits and that civilized conversation should not only be encouraged but enforced, I'd be wary of going over the top (see ColtsInsiders), where the place is run like a boot camp. Visiting fans add to the appeal of a board and it would be difficult to implement a consistent system of approval while still maintaining an air of openness and be welcoming.

I'd maybe suggest making new members aware that, should more than say 15 posters complain about them, they will be booted for the reason of being a tard, and there is no right of appeal.

That Colt board is frightening. Its run like a totalitarian cult. I recommend people check it out so they know exactly what happens when you screen too much or control dissenting thoughts with an iron fist.

I'm totally cool with hazing newbies having been in a fraternity myself. I thought about suggesting it but I wasn't sure how being frat-tastic would go over on the board.

Oooo, a backloaded deal means one thing. You're going to get cut before you ever see that last 35 cents. Or they'll trade you to Extreme Ravens for a draft pick.

Like I always thought of YBR, was like a Ravens bar where you came in,opened a cold one,said hi,and talked about the team you loved.Sadly that atmosphere was shattered over the last few years.

That's how I remember it from way back in early 2000. It was like an extended family. I hope we can get it back that way again.

This looks like a nice place. I dropped "TheReal" from my handle, since that was only there because someone hijacked my original "Purpleguy" handle.

When everyone moved from Sunspot to the Nest2 site a few years ago it was a nice transition. Hopefully this will be the same.

Well here we go again. lol This makes the 4th time I've had to start over.
(1) There was some board i can't even remember the name of way back when that changed to the Insiders place (2) I lost my login info once so i just started over because I hardly posted (3) and now we have moved again(4).

This place looks really nice and I have a good feeling about this one.

Hi everyone, I'm new, been reading this site for a long time along with the one over at insiders.

I've been exiled to the midwest for school until 2008 (cleveland for undergrad...now in "champbana" for more school, can't get enough)... :(

But hey, nothing like watching the super bowl holed up behind a locked door in a dorm room in Cleveland Ohio. hahaha.

Hope to add something to the discussion...and escape the massive amount of Rams, Bears, and Colts (puke) fans here.

EDIT: oh and if there are any Ravens fans out here...please please let me know. I'd love to hit the bar with someone who actually cares about the Ravens

Seems like it is. I guess the mods were tired of the board going downhill. Hopefully we can turn this board into what YBR once was.

I woudn't think so. No reason why it won't carry in just because of Tony's site and this board. It's somewhat common knowledge that the Ravens are working on a board to be revealed at some point. That may or may not be an issue for them.

I had a couple of PMs and emails from someone associated with that project with the Ravens. Asking me for my input and interest with working on the board. I sent him my phone numbers but never heard back.

I really don't have time for another board....

As an update, I sent an email to my contact at the Ravens concerning the MB that they are supposedly developing for the official site. He replied that he has accepted a job as PR director for the 76ers. So, a lot of the internet projects for the Ravens are up in the air at this point. They still have my contact info.

Hi to everyone! See a lot of familiar suspects around here already! :)

Looks like this is going to be a great board. Things had really gone south on the other one with personal attacks and trolls IMO. That just gets tiring after awhile. I had stopped posting almost all together. Hope to visit this one a little more frequently .
