It would appear Rex has graduated from the "Michael Vick School of People Who Garner Controversy via a Middle Finger" ....

He looks drunk in the picture I saw.
It fits his profile and I'll bet you it makes him even more popular with the New Yawkers who root for his team.

oh my eyes. a middle finger. i am so offended. i must contact my indignation coordinator and schedule a protest of some sort against somebody. we must establish a zero tolerance policy and ban all offenders for life.
Can we just go back to letting human beings be human beings again?

Thank you thank you thank you!!! I find it highly hypocritical that some of these same people who claim to be "offended" by "bad language" and "obscene gestures" are most likely ones who use them in their everyday life. Seems as though people are just looking for reasons to be offended these days. People really need to get a life.

Oh it's classic Ryan behavior, so no big deal.
Except that the new NFL Commish probably won't find it very funny that one of his coaches is flipping the bird to somebody while he's drunk off his ass in public.
Expect a fine at the minimum.

It's not about being offended by the middle finger.
It's about an NFL coach not acting professional.
And it's why Ozzie and Bisciotti didn't hire him.

Oh, it's most definitely a bigger story than Rex flipping the bird. Unfortunately, tampering probably occurs much more often than people think it does. It's kinda like a speed limit sign. Everyone knows the rules, yet many still break them. The mentality being "cop didn't see it, I didn't do it".
It's kind of hard to prove tampering, especially if there's nothing written down on paper or in texts or emails. It's simply one person's word against another.

Meh. That may or may not be true.
Either way, he's been successful thusfar.
Harbaugh's relatives yelling at officials on the sideline was a SNAFU as well, but it's irrelevant if the team(s) is/are winning.

This is 100% correct. Unfortunately the guy they did hire isn't much brighter than Rex. Neither of them are half as sharp as the guy we sent packing.

Combine this with the middle finger incident and you start seeing Rex in a new light.

Amen! Although some people may not be offended by his behavior, I am! It is totally unprofessional and shows a lack of self control. He should be above a few Dolphins fans getting under his skin and he even apologized for it.
Well, it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Jerry Coleman has it right when he said Rex Ryan will not be a head coach in the NFL very long. It will be a one time deal. If Brian Billick (Super Bowl winning coach) can't even get an interview than Rex Ryan won't be far behind.
Look how far profanity got Phil Savage....

Any worse than Bisciotti yelling at officials during Maryland basketball games from his courtside seats?
I am so sick of him at this point.
Great DC, loved his time here, but geez that man is annoying as hell. (And the media infatuation with him isn't helping)

I've got a feeling that Rex is burning brightly right now but may well go down in flames in the future.

Amen. That's what people don't want to admit. Rex comes across as an immature blowhard. Eventually his antics will wear thin, especially when the Jets start losing.
Meh. That may or may not be true.

Dude, the Harbaugh hate is really shining through. How is him having his dad and brother on the sideline yelling at officials the same as flipping the bird to fans of a division rival?

Agree with Losac when I say this comparison is lacking.
Jim was on the sideline of a game and was giving the Ref some guff on a bad call.
Rex was at am MMA fight, by most reports drunk off his ass and flipping the bird to Dolphins fans.
I dont see the logic in your argument.

Never said they were the same. Said they were both SNAFUs.
As long as both keep winning, both incidents will be forgotten.
Unless Ryan punches his O-Coordinator in the grill.
And I don't hate Harbaugh. I just remember how much of a rucus was made on THIS very board when his family member on the sideline got involved in a Ravens game.

Just came across this on twitter:

Jets fined HC Rex Ryan 50G for flipping the bird at Dolphins fans in Miami. Good thing he didn't go double bird -- might have been 100G.

Ok, seriously! Do people really care he gave some fans the finger? How many of us on this board have given a Steelers fan the finger?
I have! and it wasn't the thumbs up :D

Any worse than Bisciotti yelling at officials during Maryland basketball games from his courtside seats?
Probably. Bisciotti paid for his seat and has the right as a fan to voice his opinion. Now if he were Gary Williams' brother doing it from the Terps sideline, then it would be the same.
But like I said, neither incident will matter much as long as both coaches keep winning.
50K is a little excessive for a fine (I was thinking around half that was appropriate), but I'm sure it will provide a wakeup call for Ryan.

I hate to interupt the cackling and judgemental comments, but Jay Glazer was with Rex during the incident and said that this fan was over the top in Rex's face, they got security to move them twice and both times the obnoxious fan pursued them, continuing to go after Rex with things Glazer could not repeat. Glazer said he was surprised the Rex handled it the way he did, as he would have went after him physically.
Sorry, go on judging, cackling, it's what you all do.

It is now about Dave Lap and HoustonRaven and who is the true hardcore legend between them...
