"After much consideration I have decided to accept a position as Offensive Coordinator with the Oakland Raiders. I will miss the fans here and I thank them for all the encouragement and support they have shown me while I called Baltimore my home. I'd like to extend my deepest gratitude to Steve Bisciotti, Ozzie Newsome, Dick Cass and especially Coach John Harbaugh who brought me to Baltimore. Baltimore will always hold a special place in my heart and I'm especially thankful for the opportunities I've had to work with a world class organization, a top notch coaching staff and some of the best talent in the league."

I wish you well, Hue...I really do. Because working in the Raiders organization will take YEARS off your life and likely drive you into an insane asylum :(

But good luck, I hope you can do something with Tubby Russell and avoid the ire of Al Davis.

Jim Zorn and Al Saunders to be interviewed:

And I'm sure that you will learn just how true your words really are.
Good luck to you, and thanks for your efforts here.
Hope you have some future guarenteed money in your contract.

Saunders would make sense, since I think he was a consultant here this season...Never heard much about that though, so maybe he was just a guy to have his brain picked by Cam.

I'm not sure which I'd prefer...Zorn wouldn't be bad as just a QB coach, plus he wouldn't over complicate things what with Saunders 1000 page playbook...But, with our offense currently being about 10 offensive plays rotated around, maybe we NEED that big playbook to get Flacco to grow...

In any case, either would be good hires.

We appreciate the work that Hue did for the Ravens. I wish him the best in the Twilight Zone in which he ventures. Look up a local mental health professional to help you through the work stress.

I am confident that Harbaugh will make the best decision for the organization, with the input from everyone relevant to the offense, as well as any thoughts that Ozzie may be able to share. The offense needs a boost and fresh ideas can help.

I'd take Zorn.

Sorry to hear we're losing him. Was hoping he could be our coordinator, though who knows when (or if) Cam will leave and you can't wait forever.

I also feel sorry for him, going to the Raiders...

I think either Saunders or Zorn would be acceptable as QB coaches. Jim was a pretty good position coach before he got in over his head with Danny and Vinnie and, as PFT states, he's local. (Not that really matters)

Fair winds and calm seas to Hue Jackson as he goes to that renowed Black Hole known as Oakland. I can only assume he's received assurances from Al that Cable will be coaching next year.

Not to harsh on Pro Football talk, or be too much of a locality stickler, but Owings Mills, MD and Ashburn, VA are not local to each other. That would be 3.5 hours of daily commuting. If Zorn is offered the job and takes it, he will be uprooting his family. A friend of mine who was living in Baltimore took a job with the Redskins a couple of years ago. He didn't want to, but he had to uproot the family. The distances and the hours do not allow for that kind of commute.

Yeah, the traffic backup on that particular corridor is as bad as anything I've seen in Los Angeles or Chicago on a bad day. Unless Bisciotti is springing for the helicopter ride to and from each day, then Zorn most definitely will be moving closer to the Land of Pleasant Living, should he be hired.

+1 for Zorn.

Jackson was apparently set to interview with Chicago for their OC position, too. Why he wouldn't at least fly out there for that interview before taking an offer from the Raiders is beyond me...

There is no job security in Chicago. That coaching staff and GM should probably have been fired this season, but weren't. They are extremely likely to be fired/not extended (don't know which one is applicable) next off season and then he would be out of a job.

Chicago might be as crazy as Davis is right now...I heard they want Cutler to sit in with EVERY candidate they interview for the OC, so that he signs off on whoever is coming to work with him.

If I heard that Cutler had to sign off on me, I might go to the Raiders too. Cutler is a whiny, selfish, egomanical QB and since he has all the money, ownership would side with him. At least if Hue shuts his mouth and does his job, he's likely to stick around for more than a year, maybe even get to HC when Davis inevitably dumps Cable.

As opposed to Oakland, which is the picture of stability?

Chicago's not exactly an ideal place to work, I don't doubt that. But is there any job out there right now that is LESS attractive than the same job being offered by the Raiders?

Think of it this way: would you rather live in sunny California or in the Windy City? Given that both are extremely unstable jobs...

He could probably parlay Oakland into a HC position. Money may be a big factor as well.

This had me scratching my head a bit as well.

Bay area or Chicagoland... Chicago is cold but an incredible city. My sister lives across the street from the Raider's headquarters. Alameda/Oakland is pretty blah. Tomato tomato, unless you HATE the cold.

Good luck Hue, your gonna need.

Wouldn't mind seeing Zorn as QB coach.

Topic about talked through
But just read Tony's new front page article and just have a sneaky feeling that Hue and Al have a handshake that Hue is the new HC if he fires Cable.
It seems to be the only thing that makes sense for not also checking out the Bears job, that there is an added carrot in the mix.
