View Full Version : GAME THREAD - Ravens/Lions

If this ain't a win, I quit. Lots of inactives for the Ravens, though. No Gaither, Reed, or Clayton. KW will start. Suggs will start. Barnes is active.
So we will see how things turn out. They really need to put the hurt on Culpepper in the rain. Either way - we'll be here. GO RAVENS!!
See you in 45.

I hate to do this, but I'm sitting this game at home. A combination of new baby, bad weather, played a gig last night, and had to teach this morning, and I am happy to sit at home with the 73" screen and watch and hang out with my buds on 24x7.
So I'm in Seph! See you in 30.

The only negative I can see today is this could be the Miami game from 2 years ago. A game we're just expected to win outright. Lions will be fighting hard for this one for Jim Schwartz. Key injuries are going to really cause us to modify our game plan. We need to play smart, hard nosed football and make sure we get the win. Ugly game conditions today, so I'm guessing we will be running a lot.

Ever since they switched to primarily zone, the pass coverage has improved, but they need pressure to do it successfully, and they aren't getting any. Except for Foxworth earlier, it isn't their fault totally.

He had one against the Browns.
I don't think he has played that bad knowing his physical limitations...which is why his signing in the beginning was so questionable to me.
But as a guy who you'd expect to be a 3rd CB based on his body of work, he hasn't been all that bad. He has played better than all our CB's other than probably Webb so far IMHO. Although we all know that isn't really saying much.

Its not that he's the smallest, but they should use the "jumbo" package with him instead of leaving him to find his own hole...I actually think he'd be better than Willis in those situations...

It was a really nice play by DWill, but let's try to remember that this Lions D is one of the worst pass defenses in the history of the NFL. It's one game. He should get a long look the rest of the season to see what he can do. But right now, that catch doesn't mean he's a whole lot better than anyone else on our roster. Mark Clayton makes the occasional nice play too, remember.

Of course not. But any time this dude has gotten in the game, he's made plays. See: Vikings, GB, here. Last year.

And we are still behind Jax. We can't beat them on tiebreakers. Still need them to lose one more. But with Denver likely now taking their 5th loss, and Jax now with 6, things definitely look up.
Huge Jax vs. Indy game on Thursday night. if Jax loses that, and we win, we will officially control our own destiny. I think.

my brain hurts...... we get the head 2 head over the phins but not jax, i understand , but how do they not get the head 2 head over jax after just beating them ???????:grbac:
Troy rarely sees the field. He scored a TD. Probably shouldn't have danced that much, but let's cut him some slack.
I know...but its just one of those things that bothers me because I've been on both sides of an asswhooping and I never liked someone acting like that.

I thought the Browns were the worst team in the league.
I was clearly wrong.
The Lions are just absolutely terrible

They do. But tiebreakers change depending on how many teams are in the mix. There are 4 teams at 7-6 now. I wouldn't worry about it for now.

We won with no fuss. I'm not making anything of it because the Lions are blody awful. But that's at least some competence shown.
I've never been more wet and cold in my life. But all in all a good confidence builder gamer for us. Very surprised at all the empty seats today.

Just meant even with the weather I didn't expect as many empty seats at M&T as there was. There wasn't alot, just a few more than expected.

The crowd was pathetic. I don't know how it sounded on TV but hardly anyone was making noise on defense. Half the crowd left at halftime.
It was cold, wet and miserable, but damn fun to watch us put up 48 points.
The Bmore fair weather fans strike again.

Yeah there was hardly any nosie on Defense. M&T didn't have its usual atmosphere.
Damn right about the game fun to watch, at lesat for Ravens fans.

I'm tired of the "fair weather fan" bullshit.
I made a "game-time" decision not to go because of multiple factors. And I'm assuming there were reasons for people not to be out and about today.
Don't lump everyone together.

If you pony up the cash for tickets, who am I (or anyone else) to criticize what you do with your ticket, especially with what was one of the worst weather games I can recall.

My co-worker texted me this morning offering up free tickets, but I didn't see it until noon and I live out in Westminster...
If I'd seen it earlier today, I would've tried to go. And by tried, I mean I would've called in every favor I had with my wife to get her to let me out of putting up the tree today. Yeah, the rain would've sucked, but if I had the chance, I'd be in those stands any day of the week.
My best game experience is still the NE Monday night game a couple years ago. Went with a former co-worker, froze our asses off, screamed our voices out, pounded the crap out of the railing where we were sitting so my hands ached for a week. It was so worth it, even when we lost.
That said, I wouldn't call someone a fair weather fan without hearing their reasoning behind it. There are plenty of good reasons why you might have to miss a game.

I was soaked and left when the score hit 41-3. :respect I'm ok with leaving if we are blowing a team out, but I generally won't leave if we're losing, no matter how big the margin is (if not for this policy I'd have missed the big Seattle comeback). The Lions D totally quit on the 2nd half; so did I.
On a gameday with weather like that, I can't blame anyone who decided to not come. That was the worst gameday weather I've experinced, and I've been to a couple of NE snowday games.
I have no doubt that if it was the Steelers instead of the Lions the house would've been sold out.

Nah, you'd see a lot of Yinzers because the fair weather Baltimorons would sell to the highest bidders.

If history is any judge, there were barley any Yinzerz at the game on Dec 30th, 2007.
Night game with rain and wind chills into the single digits. The game was meaningless, IIRC. Yet, very few black and yellow towels to be seen.
I think Dade is right. Stadium was pretty full come game time. Once it was an obvious blowout, people opted for dryer conditions. Can't say I blame them.
