Heck, I'd be disappointed if we give up more than 3 points

Deactivating Cassel is smartest move they could've made. I was predicting if he played, he'd get a more serious injury today. The Ravens D is going to be ALL over the QB today, so might as well get in a backup with some mobility...The question is do they start Thigpen or Croyle? I would start Thigpen, he's the better looking QB with their offense.

I want this D to be nothing short of devastating today!

On my way to the stadium now! Looking like it could be a blowout today. :)
I'm mad I cannot find a pregame show on the radio in the car though. Anyone know? 105.7 is covering the worthless Orioles.

97.9 for the game...
Ravens Inactives:
QB Beck, RB Parmele, LB Ellerbe, OT Cousins, OT Moll, TE L.J. Smith, DT McKinney, LB/DE Kruger
Suprises: Lawrence ahead of Parmele on depth chart? McKinney lowest DL on depth chart? KRUGER INACTIVE!?

BOTH QB's inactive besides Flacco???
Kruger inactive?????
RavenScallywag
09-13-2009, 12:14 PM
Um, no...TROY Smith is ACTIVE. LJ SMITH is inactive
Reason for Kruger, according to Jamison Hensley:
My guess why Kruger is inactive is Barnes plays a bigger role on special teams. #Ravens must be confident that Suggs can play full game.
52decleetzu
09-13-2009, 12:18 PM
Oh yeah not used to having another Smith on the team.
I am guessing that Barnes and McClain's value on special teams was the difference.
Just shows how damn deep we are if Kruger has to take a back seat today.
RavenScallywag
09-13-2009, 12:24 PM
I hope we can get him active most weeks though...I'd like to see him get some reps each week to buildup his skills at LB.

Hauschka to kick off. M&T juiced up and ready to go! Seems like this city hasn't let go of last years energy.

I may sound like a complete noob when I ask this but what does it mean if a kick is difered?
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:05 PM
1st, Croyle under center, M&T super loud already, Johnson for 4.
2nd and 6, toss back to LJ, hit behind the line by RAY! Loss of 3-4!
3rd and long, no huddle, ball tipped by Sizzle and almost picked by Fabe and Ray. 3 and out!
52decleetzu
09-13-2009, 01:05 PM
Owww should have been picked!

We chose to receive the ball in the secoind half instead of the first half when we won the toss.

1st down Ravens from the 20, move Oher to the left heavy, motion McClain to the backfield, PA, no one open, Flacco has a ridiculous amount of time, ends up rushing for 4.
2nd and 6, PA, complete to Mason to the 41. 19 yard gain - first down!
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:08 PM
1st, pump fake, high throw for Washington, CAUGHT, nice grab at the KC 35!

Way to go guys. :/
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:09 PM
1st, PA deep to the endzone for Mason, COULDNT STAY IN BOUNDS. Perfect throw though! Mase just couldn't get his feet down.
Ravens take a TO. Couldn't get back after that, I guess.

I like that they are coming out firing. Flacco looks really, really sharp. Chiefs not doing a good job covering either.

We chose to receive the ball in the secoind half instead of the first half when we won the toss.
Ahh ok thanks man I never heard that term used until last season. Am I the only one who doesn't think Carr is that great at returns?
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:11 PM
2nd, another pass, complete to Clayton for 11-12 and another first.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:14 PM
1st, another play action, to the sideline for Mason, can't get the feet down. OL is OUTSTANDING on this drive.
2nd, give to Rice who trips and is then hit by 2 guys in the backfield. Loss of 1.
3rd and 11, shotgun, the rush comes, incomplete to Rice as Flacco forced to throw off his back foot. FG after all that - BOO.
Hauschka for the 44 yarder - just good. 3-0 Ravens.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:17 PM
Nice kick from Hauschka, but Charles makes some nice moves and gets to the 24. He's dangerous.

09-13-2009, 01:19 PM
1st, shotgun, looked like some sort of bubble screen - Charles hit immediately, gets maybe 1.
2nd and 9, PA, pump fake by Croyle and gets PANCAKED by JJ!! SACK!
3rd and 15, Ravens for some reason take a TO. Dunno why.
Flipping Birdie
09-13-2009, 01:20 PM
So what is it, a total of 1 yard from KC so far?
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:21 PM
3rd and 15, Ravens force Croyle to take a TO. Confused the shit out of him. LOL. They changed looks on defense like 5 times.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:22 PM
3rd and 15, shotgun empty backfield, Croyle goes for Bradley - short of the first and almost picked. Incomplete.
52decleetzu
09-13-2009, 01:23 PM
They might not get across midfield much less score.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:23 PM
Carr to return - great punt, huge hangtime - but Carr just kinda runs laterally and then slips. Like to see a little more outta this guy - go north south, son.

Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:26 PM
1st from the 30, screen to McClain gets 15 - but flags fly. Holding on Mason.
1st and 10 again from the 30, complete to Mason for 12 and another first.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:29 PM
1st, give to Rice who trips but still gets 4.
2nd and 6, audible called, Rice for another 3-4.
3rd and 2 or 3, Troy in at WR, shotgun empty backfield, complete to Washington for about 10. First down!
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:30 PM
1st from the 37, Rice making moves, gets 7 going off Oher.
2nd and 3.5, PA, Flacco looks off of like 3 guys, no body open, so he goes for 6 and a first. Line is doing incredible out there.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:32 PM
1st, Willis in, from the 25, screen to LeRon, but falls, gets about 2 yards.
2nd and 8, pass for McGahee was tipped and almost fell right into Mason's hands, lol. Pass thrown to the back shoulder - not good.
3rd, complete to Heap with lots of running room, to the Chiefs 8 and a first down!
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:34 PM
1st and goal from the 9 it looks like, Rice gets to the 5.
2nd and goal from the 5, Rice falls again (wtf?) and gets to the 3.
3rd from the 3, Ngata in, PA, Flacco dances around, FINDS MCGAHEE, TOUCHDOWN RAVENS!!!!!

Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:36 PM
So for those who couldn't see - the Ravens were in the ultimate heavy set with Ngata in as blocking TE - ran a play action, no one was open. Flacco scrambles left and has Ngata and a few other guys ahead of him, gets pressure, and slips left, and throws across his body to an isolated McGahee with 1 guy at the 3, who goes into the endzone for a TD.
Just a playmaker type throw. As I said - the type of crap we see Roethlisberger do all the damn time. So sweet.
darb72
09-13-2009, 01:36 PM
Don't say things like that Flippin.
I will say that was one of the better plays I've ever seen out of a Raven's QB. Flacco moved around in the pocket, always keeping his eye in the endzone before dumping it down to McGhee for a two or three yard TD.

1st, LJ trips, loses 1.
Chiefs have a total of -5 yards.
2nd and 11, Croyle pumps, hits LJ, gets 5 or 6. They might be in positives!
3rd and 5, Bradley catches, and forced OOB RIGHT at the marker by Foxworth. Will take a measurement.
Its short! Wow - poor awareness by Bradley.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:42 PM
Reed deep to return. Unsure why. Here we go, lol.
Another stellar punt, Reed gets to the 21 but flags all over the place - gonna be on us.
darb72
09-13-2009, 01:42 PM
Why in the world is Reed returning punts. I know he's great at it but we need him on defense.
Also, why in the world can we not return a punt without a penalty?
myfavoriteboxer
09-13-2009, 01:43 PM
13 years of the baltimore ravens, and still utterly unable to return a kick or a punt without a holding or block in the back penalty.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:44 PM
1st from the 8 - Willis bounces left and then gets hit for a loss. Maybe no gain.
First quarter ends - 10-0 Ravens. If we can get this past midfield, or even points on this drive, its disaster for the Chiefs.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:48 PM
2nd and 9, I guess they gave him 1, 6 OL in, play action - deep for Clayton who was 1 on 1 with Leggett but hadn't beaten him - goes incomplete.
3rd, Flacco scrambles for 11, but a flag is down. Holding on Gaither.
3rd and like, 15 I guess.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:49 PM
3rd and 14 actually, Flacco throws away and gets called for grounding. Gonna be a safety. Fouls by BOTH TEAMS. They offset!
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:50 PM
lol, lets try this again.
3rd and 14, bubble screen to Clayton, gets about 10-11. Punt time.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:51 PM
Chiefs fumble the punt, Ravens inches from falling on it - but the Chiefs get it at the 30.
Outstanding punt by Koch.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:54 PM
1st, LJ for 2.
2nd and 8, Thigpen is in at QB, designed draw for 3.
3rd and 5, toss to Charles, Ravens D looks incredibly fast - Carr on the stop - no gain.
PSMD410
09-13-2009, 01:55 PM
Wow where is Figurs???? lol
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:55 PM

I do miss Jim Leonard for his PR skills.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:59 PM
1st, Raymell for 4 or 5 yards.
2nd and 5, right to Mason on the sideline but uncharacteristically dropped.
3rd and 5, complete to Rice as an unblocked blitzer comes in - gains 1. Punt time.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 01:59 PM
Wow - the chiefs block a punt for a TD. Wow.

Carr to the 19. Kick was very deep.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 02:03 PM
1st, complete to Rice for about 10. Looks like they're gonna spot it short. Nope - a first.
We need to cut the jugular ASAP!
Sephy
09-13-2009, 02:06 PM
1st, give to Rice who makes some nice moves for 4-5.
2nd and 6, Flacco avoids a sack, moves up nicely, ends up going OOB and questionably takes a hit right at the sideline.
3rd and 5, flag for delay. grrr.
3rd and 10, complete to Heap to the 47 yard line. Nice play.
StingerNLG
09-13-2009, 02:06 PM
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeap! 17 yards! Thank goodness we needed that!
Sephy
09-13-2009, 02:07 PM
1st, screen to Willis, gets about 6 yards. Nice run by him.
2nd and 4.5, complete to Clayton for 7 or 8, first down.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 02:08 PM
1st from the Chiefs 41, Hali comes around the corner and causes a fumble, luckily Flacco falls on it and its only about a 3-4 yard sack.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 02:09 PM
2nd and 14, goes for Rice, who pops the ball up and luckily it falls incomplete. Too high for Ray.

Opening week is just so strange and unpredictable. The D is clearly doing its job but I think I'll be happy at this point if we just win the game. Of course the way the offense is moving the ball it might get broken open in the second half.
darb72
09-13-2009, 02:10 PM
I don't know exactly what is happening with the Ravens but we need to fix some of these mental errors by next week.
Great throw by Flacco to Clayton to pick up the first but the lack of a running game is a concern.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 02:12 PM
1st from the 29, late audible from Flacco, Rice for about 5-6.
2nd and 4, goes for Heap and dropped. He got hit pretty hard by Page. Perfect throw though. Gannon says it was high but it was right on the numbers, lol.
3rd and 4, tipped pass. ARGH. Forced to take a FG.
41 yarder - no good. Wide left.
Stover's cell might be blowing up tonight..
Sephy
09-13-2009, 02:13 PM
There's no problem with the run game. Rice is averaging 4-5 yards a carry. They just aren't using it a lot.
Raveninwoodlawn
09-13-2009, 02:14 PM
While I like that we are opening up the offense, I would like to see us run the ball more.
Flacco should not be throwing 25 passes in a half. And if he does, we need to either be up 14 or more points so we can almost exclusively run the ball in the second half, or we would be behind by a lot of points.

Chiefs false start.
1st and 15, at the 26, LJ spins off and gets about 7.
2nd and 8, end around to Charles is diagnosed terrificly - loses 3-4.
3rd and 11, complete, and the Chiefs get a ridiculously generous spot for the first. BAH

2 minute warning.
With this gameplan, something tells me the coaches expected to be up about 14-20 points right now, so they could grind it out in the 2nd. They should work in some more balance so they can get that lead.

I think the Ravens are trying to challenge that first.
I've got the feeling that the Offense just doesn't have its head in the game....Mason dropping balls, Hauschka missing fg's, etc. What's the odds that Stover is on the roster at the end of the year?

Sephy
09-13-2009, 02:25 PM
1st, another give, 1 yard gain. Smacked by the D.
2nd and 9, clock runs, about 1:10, Charles catches and gets back to the LOS.
3rd and 8.5, under 50s left, under 40s now, run loses yards. They'll let the clock run out I guess. Chiefs really botched that.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 02:26 PM
I guess they're taking a TO with 1 second to try a hail mary.
Sephy
09-13-2009, 02:27 PM

3 point lead at halftime is very, very underwhelming. Need POINTS. And we can score them now - just need to execute.

We've turned into the Eagles...apparently ignoring the run.
One play we went empty backfield...on 2nd and 4!

And Flacco, as good as he has looked, is really struggling with the accuracy over the middle to the backs.

1st, ball tipped and holding called.
1st and 20, Flacco trips, scrambles, gets like 2.
2nd and 18, Rice makes moves for 9.
3rd and 9, Flacco picked and its run back inside the 10. UGHHHH
TTRaven
09-13-2009, 02:49 PM
Flacco has thrown at least 3 passes that should have been picked off. What in the hell is he looking at out there? Johnson was in front of Heap the entire time.

And now we're turning the ball over.
Int thrown by Flacco to D. Johnson which is returned to inside the Raven's 10 yard line.

How many times have we said that over the years? This game is just pissing me off now.
Raveninwoodlawn
09-13-2009, 02:53 PM
This is why you can't forget what type of team you are.
That was Billick/Madden10 esque.
We are not dynamic enough to be throwing the ball around 50 times a game...we have 3 good backs...use them!
Bwaaaaahaaaaaa. :rolling:
And why are we passing like we're down by 14 in the 4th q again?
Raveninwoodlawn
09-13-2009, 02:55 PM

09-13-2009, 02:56 PM
For the record...i don't know who's decision this was to throw the ball around like we are the Colts, but somebody has to really re-examine what this team is all about.
Now watch us go to a run, run, pass offense.
TTRaven
09-13-2009, 02:56 PM
Cam Cameron needs to stop trying to make Flacco into some superstar QB. 29 pass attempts halfway through the 3rd quarter is absolutely ridiculous. Run the damn football!

Mm, it sort of looks as though they're treating this like the fifth preseason game with all the passing. Not that national reputation is particularly important until the clock runs out on Super Bowl Sunday, but for example Philadelphia is coming out with a big statement by kicking some Carolina ass, while Baltimore's current statement is "Guess who can hardly beat the Chiefs?"

09-13-2009, 03:15 PM
1st, from the 41, Rice tries to bounce back out but gets no gain.
2nd and 10, way over the head of Clayton

RavenScallywag
09-13-2009, 03:16 PM

He is really having problems throwing the ball high and over the middle, that is disaster.
RavenScallywag
09-13-2009, 03:17 PM
This was not the same Joe we saw in preseason...he looks just way too nervous on these throws...he needs to find his comfort zone again
Joe is off today....he keeps sailing his passes high.

The numbers say otherwise.
What do you want 500 yds and 4 TD's?
StingerNLG
09-13-2009, 03:21 PM
Flacco does NOT look sharp today. He is sailing quite a few passes. And at least from up here they are starting to bottle up Derrick Mason and making him look elsewhere.
Clayton had a couple, but nothing game breaking. D-will has been invisible. Heap scored a TD and caught a couple bad thrown balls but dropped one too.
We need to shore this up and fast!
RavenScallywag
09-13-2009, 03:21 PM
his numbers are big, but since the 1st quarter, he's not been the same at all.
He's had a TON of poor throws and bad decisions...the only reason we got the TD this 2nd half was the run game.

1st from the 10, LJ turns it outside, gains 4.
2nd and 6, LJ for 2.

Sephy
09-13-2009, 03:25 PM
1st, Reed blitzes, LJ stopped in the backfield for a loss.
