Why did Som Koch do the KO? Rumours?
Edit: Nevermind...NFL.com showed wrong name, it was Hauschka.
Looks like Suggs needs to get his legs back. He should've had Ryan for a sack. Guess thats what the preseason is for.

I am really not happy with the ravens run defense or lack of so far this pre season
Raveninwoodlawn
09-03-2009, 07:41 PM
SLOPPY!!!
All backups in but Suggs and this defense looks bad.
D is a little jumpy early. But Suggs gets a sack.

Way to come back and earn that contract #55 (What's his name again?)

Looks like it took about 5 plays for Suggs to shake off the rust.
Raveninwoodlawn
09-03-2009, 07:45 PM
Well, Suggs is ready to go and I guess that is all we will see of him today.
It will be interesting to see how may offensive starters go tonight.
Cleveland sat both Quinn and Anderson today...lol Mangini is an buffoon.
RavenScallywag
09-03-2009, 07:47 PM
Beck starting at QB...Joe will NOT play tonight.

That just means he must have his answer at QB already. Either that or he's going to bring them in at the end, once all the starters and top backups are definitley out.
RavenScallywag
09-03-2009, 07:51 PM
ugh, NFL.com SUCKS in their web coverage...stats say Flacco is in, when TV clearly shows he is NOT. Bush League. They also credited Williams' catch to TOM ZBIKOWSKI...A defender!
Williams is showing up tonight.
Sephy
09-03-2009, 07:55 PM
Spiderman looks good, and so does Parmele. Like what I'm seeing from the important backups tonight.
TD Beck pass to Cook. Nice looking drive by the backups.

On Atlanta's first team defence. Nice!
Raveninwoodlawn
09-03-2009, 07:57 PM
Pretty impressive drive by all the backups against the Falcons defense with a lot of their starters in.
Atlanta is going to have a good offense, but that defense is pretty bad to allow that drive.
yea but who is Dem going vs?
Good point. But if your playing against a scrub you should make get open and make catches. And Dem is doing that, so far.

Yeah, if I'm Mike Smith I am PISSED!! That was embarrassing.
Demetrius is definately showing up tonight. But the fact that he's out there with the backups and Kelley Washington isnt playing could be a sign D-Will is the #4 guy, not the #3 guy.
Raveninwoodlawn
09-03-2009, 08:00 PM
I've been pretty disappointed by Haushka's kickoffs the last 2 games. They aren't Stover bad, but they should consistently be high and inside the 5

I agree, and he is playing with a pretty bad o-line right now. He seems more accurate and decisive, a great pick up by our front office. Beck will be our backup for a long time to come well after Troy leaves.

09-03-2009, 08:11 PM
Joe Reitz looks horrible.
Get a hand on the guy at least!
RavenScallywag
09-03-2009, 08:15 PM
At best, Beck is only the #2 QB in theory. Due to the emergency QB rule, I think Beck will be among the 8 inactive on gameday, with Troy Smith being active for trick plays.
Even with him looking good now, I think it's a big leap to say he should be the primary backup to Joe, since Troy has had more years in this offense. No doubt though, I am not worried about backup QB once Troy leaves....
Lucky to recover that fumble. Our ST kinda stinks. Things like that will cost us in the regular season.

Troy's only been here in Cam's system for one year. This is his second. Not to mention, Beck played with Cam in Miami.

Beck is doing a lot of staring in one direction. The offense has begun to sputter now that they scored this TD.
I have to agree with Sandusky. I think Webb lost the opportunity to be the returner this year.
I may be turning on something else at halftime. I'm getting bored.

A couple of late coments.
Beck looks good. I agree that he may be the guy we would turn to would we have a week to get ready to play with a backup. I would think he would remain inactice, with troy being the backup to enter mid game, but Beck may start a game where it's known we are without Flacco.
Parmele made the team. He looked caoable against ATL's mediocre starters.
Webb won't be returning punts this year, that is for sure...
THIS OL sucks. Good thing it's not even our second OL.
I liek that Harbs started the bubble guys. Time for them to show they are NFL quality.
Gooden and Sizzle looked good, they appeared to be starters amongst backups. I think there is no doubt Gooden has the job.

Nice hit by Oglesby BTW.

That was an easy 85 yard TD.
Nobody touched it and Harper just blew it...and may have blown his chances of making the team.
RavenScallywag
09-03-2009, 08:35 PM
Maybe Figurs does make this team...Harper is just looking stupid out there. Other than the defender being no where near him, there is NOTHING MORE can be done to make that a more catchable ball.

09-03-2009, 08:37 PM
What's the score/ quarter/ time
RavenScallywag
09-03-2009, 08:38 PM
Ed...just under 4 minutes left in the half, Ravens 7-0.
But realistically, it may as well be 0-0, end of game. This game is shaping up to be a snoozer with both teams just trying to get out of here. Granted, lots of guys TRYING to make the team, but not seeing anything big yet.

Yeah, but Figurs isn't playing at all tonight. Maybe it's Foster that makes this team instead of either of them.
I wonder if Harbaugh still says Harper has "potential" after tonight.

Harper does have potential...he makes some nice catches now and again, but it's getting too frustrating with the misses to count on him making any impact in regular season.
He should go on P Sq...again.
Walker needs to be cut. Teams now know he is the weak corner thanks to Rex.

Eh, his line have been pretty atrocious. I think Beck's been quite impressive tonight - good arm, nice accuracy and a couple of clutch third and long throws. I'm comfortable with him as our #3.
Pissed at Harper. The guy can get himself separation and has great size but couldn't catch a cold. Coupled with his previous fondless for short-arming passes across the middle, I'm going to have to say see ya!

I think he makes the team. He has made plays in regular season games. He's just not an every down corner, that's all. But he has value.
As for Haushcka, please just give him the job and be done with it. I'm sure this Matt Stover crap hasn't been helping any. If you're going to bring in Stover, then do it and stop dragging his name out there all the time. Otherwise, give Steve the job and let's give this kid some confidence.
