Nothing was mentioned about the annual Redskins scrimmage -- anybody hear about it? I like to take the youngsters to that event.

[I don't know what Lot J has to do with Training Camp in Westminster, but it's time to update that discussion anyway].
I can't see what damages Central Parking can claim if they are evicted. Anticipatory profits? Is their contract with the Maryland Stadium Authority not being honored by Baltimore City? Central Parking invested nothing into Lot J beyond renting a few extra porta-potties.
The "genius" who came up with Lot J as the casino location was some combination of O'Malley, Dixon, and the State Legislature. Conveniently, the Baltimore City location for the casino was not announced as Lot J until the day after the slots referendum.
Finally: will Lot J dodge a bullet for all or part of this season? The land acquisition issues (http://baltimore.bizjournals.com/baltimore/stories/2008/03/03/story6.html) have been resolved, but now the slots developer wants to take over (http://baltimore.bizjournals.com/baltimore/stories/2009/06/01/daily60.html?s=industry) some or all of Ray Lewis and partners' Gateway South redevelopment project adjoining Lot J to the south. The previously announced construction completion date is December 2010 - that's only 18 months for construction if started next week.
The dog pound, which had been slated for casino parking, has dodged a bullet (at least for now) and Lot J itself may or may not wind up being developed as the 4 story 1,000 car parking garage supporting a casino on the top deck, as originally envisioned. And demolition has already started on Warner Street, at the chemical factory across from Lot J.
While I will miss the great tailgating and close proximity of Lot J, I'll be glad to get out of this mess.

I read somewhere that there will be no scrimmage with the Redskins this year. I can't remember where the article was, but I believe it was Harbaugh that was quoted. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I believe I read somewhere on the official site that there were only going to be intra squad scrimmages going forward, but I can't remember where exactly I read it so take it with a huge portion of salt.

Too bad --- the Redskins scrimmages used to be a great, inexpensive way to take little ones to Ravens "games" without exposing them to the drunken vulgarity and intense noise of regular season games, or past-their bedtimes night exhibition games.
I wonder who in the Ravens and/or Redskins organization(s) (who is apparently oblivious to little kids' participation at Ravens events) made the decision to discontinue them?

I freakin' LOVE the first day of training camp. I love the atmosphere...I love listening to Ray getting everyone pumped. The whole thing is great. The way this world is these days it is really amazing that something like is so accessible...enjoy it while you can.
That being said, it is still almost 2 months away and not worth getting excited about just yet....but almost. One has to pace oneself.

Does anyone have info on openings for season parking?

Here's a little info on season parking for you:
A group of us who participate on this message board jumped on the parking issue shortly after the Lot J casino announcement last December, to acquire our own private lot for 20 vehicles, near Lot H. Our lot is now full. Several applicants had contacted me who had been in the private lots impacted by the City & developers "Gateway South Redevelopment Project & Lot J Circle Jerk", who were told by lot managers that it was unlikely, but not a definite no, that they could park this season.
I also know of another guy who acquired two private lots, but I don't know if he has vacancies. If important, I can track him down.
Lot J availability is certainly muddled, as are the private lots south of Lot J. With the City expecting $2 million/month from the casino's property tax payments and the State reaping in 67% of the gross from 3,500 Baltimore slot machines, I would not be surprised to see construction starting soon, but perhaps not before the 2009 Ravens games start. Call or visit Central Parking at the south end of the B&O Warehouse -- ask for Cynthia. She has impressed me as honest and knowledgeable. She may be able to tell you if there will be any Lot J passes sold this season, and by whom.
You may also want to check with "Closest Parking" (Himmelrich Associates), which runs various private lots along Stockholm and Ostend Streets, to see if they have any season passes left, or even if any daily cash spots are open. When I checked with them shortly after the Lot J fiasco was announced, they were being swamped with Lot J applicants, but not sold out at that time. Be wary of parking at the Himmelrich lot at the corner of Stockholm and Sharp Streets -- it may be the most difficult lot to exit post-game.
Also FYI: I annually receive a letter from the Ravens telling me that, although I am only 12 years on the Lot H waiting list, I could obtain $100/season parking at a garage at the University of Maryland -- no tailgating or shuttle bus to the stadium, however.

I would like info on the parking at the University of Maryland-Baltimore garage if that is available to the General Public or is it for just for people on the Lot H waiting list. I apologize for e-mailing you about this earlier.

Assuming that I receive the letter for the __th year in arow, I'll post it here for all to see. I doubt that UMd would turn you down if not a PSL owner -- if so, use my name!

.T did he e-mail you back?? Baby bro has been ignoring me so I figure he may be on vacation.
Last we heard from Central parking is they may only have half a season:eyes: We got some disgruntlement from some in our group because parking is more then we were quoted last season, BUT the ****** city raised the "parking tax". Good news is we have assigned spaces.

The baltimore arena lot is open to the public for anyone to buy a pass too, but its not a season pass its a buy a game at a time, no tailgating, and its a parking garage, info can be found on the ravens website here:
