Sporting News Today has been running articles on the best at each position.
Today is FB, LeRon is #2, Ovie is #3.
You know it gives you a different persepctive, I don't know if you have seen the rankings but for example we do not have a RB in the top 20 ranking that they did. It made me realize many of our players are POTENTIAL stars not bona fide stars today.
Example at RB- McGahee - we see a guy that if he works out hard this spring and recovers, he could be a 1200 yard guy. The league sees a hurt ineffective RB getting older. Not in the top 20
Ray Rice - we see great potential. The league sees him as outside the top 20 because other young guys delivered more last year.
everyone else at RB - who is he? We are looking for a diamond in the rough, or an effective 3rd down back.
So we would be seen throughout the league as one with a less effective running game. Our job is to prove them wrong with coaching, growth in players, and execution. But they have not proven it yet.

Yeah but that's everyone's job. Everyone's trying to do everything to get to #1 and be the best player on the best team. Reality is that won't happen, so you have to go with probability of who's going to step up, and who's not.

everyone can sleep on Willis if they like. the guy was hurt far more than people gave him credit for last year. he showed up in bad condition last year and there is no place for that, but if he has a 1200 yard season that will be a disappointment. he is a top RB in this league. like him or not.

This is another guy I think could surprise this year. He had a really, really tough season last year. If he's actually working out in minicamps etc this offseason, and he comes to camp ready to play, he could put up some numbers this year. Because Cameron & Harbaugh will run the ball.
Has McGahee ever been a "top" RB? Maybe when he was 23 and scored 13 TDs. I would have put him out of the topmost tier of RBs. He's never been LDT or Adrian Peterson. Career YPC under 4.
But he's been good, productive player.
