I signed the petition awhile back, after Tony first got it going.

The Sun has a new sports blog called the Toy Department and one of their entries today is about how we should "get over it".

I signed it a while ago. Thanks for bringing it to people's attention again. The Baltimore Colts and the people of Baltimore deserve way better than the Hall of Shame has done for the history of our team.

I was a very early signer of that petition. A part of our lives was taken away by an evil man who did not deserve to own an NFL team. I hope we regain our history back, but I think the NFL should have had a rule in place that when a franchise moves, the name and the colors belong to the city forever. That goes for all teams. There should not be an Arizona Cardinals, as it belongs to St. Louis. The Rams should belong to Los Angeles or whatever was the original city. The name "Colts" dates back to the horse racing heritage of the State of Maryland and no way belongs to Indianapolis. That is what will always hurt and never go away.

Signed... I don't want the Colts back, but Johnny never played for Indianapolis and its a disgrace that the HoF and the league refuse to acknowledge the existence of football in Baltimore before 1996.

Ravenwoman,
FWIW, the Rams began in Cleveland and moved to LA in the '40s, and the Cardinals began in Chicago, moving to St. Louis around 1960.

But I agree, cities that lose their football teams should be able to retain their history, colors, and name as uniquely theirs.

My first football memory was listening to the Colts lose to the Raiders in the 77 playoff game on the radio with my Dad, so I was too young for the Glory Days of the Bmore Colts. Can someone explain to me why Rosenbloom basically traded with Irsay the Colts ownership for the Rams ownership? My Dad mentioned to me something that Rosenbloom fell head over heels for the future Georgia Frontiere, a high priced dancer, and married her. She wanted no business being in Baltimore, so he seeked out Irsay to trade ownerships. Is this accurate? Anything more to add? I know Rosenbloom later drowned mysteriously when he was a great swimmer (possibly Mob involvement).

I also remember hearing that Rosenbloom wasn't the greatest of owners either. I seem to remember hearing that he also threatened to move the Colts out of Baltimore at one point.

Thanks for the Colts historical education

I just want the history back and to have those in the Hall acknowledged as "Baltimore Colts".

One of my first football memories was waking up to see my father, stading in our living room in Clarksville, crying his eyes out because he was watching the moving vans pull out. To this day, one of the only times I have ever seen my father cry.

Could care less about the name and colors -- I just want those in the HoF who played in Baltimore recognized as such.

Indy can have their team and it has nothing to do with "getting over it". It's about preserving the accuracy of history and a heritage -- a concept all too forgotten in today's society.

I'm not bitter or anything.

I just want Bob Irsay's drunken corpse to be resurrected so that he can die a second, more painful death that includes testicular cancer and severe rectal trauma.

I don't understand anyone wanting the name and colors back.... The Ravens are starting their own history and we don't need a little blue horseshoe to prove we're a great team.

But for the HoF to claim that all of the great Baltimore Colts like Unitas and Moore are Indianapolis Colts is both annoying and insulting. They went in as Baltimore Colts and the retroactive change is petty and cruel.

Amen Ravenwoman. That is the sanest, truest thought I have ever heard on the subject.
