Well I am going to be the first and come on here and say after watching him on t.v. today. I love him again. I forgive him, it's so hard to do but he made me get really excited for some reason today.

Now I think he danced around alot of questions, and God am I tired of him using God. He has alot of shit with him but Steve made a good point and Oz is just Oz. I'm glad Ray is a Raven and I did not want to lose him. But, after his comments and him admitting to having a few drinks at the pro bowl then doing the interview I will forgive him.

I said all along he'd be welcome back as a premier linebacker, and I said all along he handled the negotiations very poorly, coming across as a jerk.

Not sure there's anything to forgive. He hasn't crept up the ladder of respectability, but I am sure as hell glad he'll be in purple and black next year.

I think the whole Ray negotiation and the varieties of emotion coming from the fans as well as Ray and the Raven's organization has shown that this whole thing really is greater than "just a business". I mean does anyone really give a shit who is an analyst for AIG? Probably not, but we all care who is suiting up for middle linebacker come this fall.

The Steelers may have 6 Lombardis and we just 1 but there is something to value about having one of the greatest football players of all time spending his entire career with our team.

Who knows what Ray really thought or maybe even said but in the end he is a Raven. 71,000 folks will go ape-shit when Ray comes out of the tunnel for the first game this fall. The stars will be aligned.

My friend you hit the hole in one!!! I believe Ray after hearing our owner, our GM and our HC and to hear Ray's words directly and he himself never spoke any of that and as "FANS" we are involved and do care and we take it personal when it comes to our stars but also remember this "CITY" forgave Unitas for playing in SD his final year, forgave the rumors of Cal beating his wife years ago, this guy and our star middle linebacker has been so involved with kids in this community over the years and his on the field stuff speaks for to what he values!!! I AM THANKFUL #52 RAY LEWIS HAS SET A STANDARD OF WHAT A RAVEN IS!!!

Slight correction. But the Lombardy Trophy is symbolic of World Champion, and we here in Baltimore have 4 World Championships to our name, even though the Ravens have contributed just 1 in their brief stay here.

Nothing to forgive in my mind. Its a business, he tried to leverage his position and it didnt work. Ray Lewis made a crucial mistake by signing the 7 year contract in 01. If he had agreed to a 4 or 5 year deal, he would have made a lot more money. I personally will be very glad to see number 52 coming out of the tunnel this year, next year and hopefully the following.

I'm still not sure what he needs to apologize about or why so many people are angry at him.

He was trying to position himself for one last payday. In order to do that you need some other team to be interested in you. He and his agent tried to manufacture that. It blew up in their faces. He still got a contract that was above market value for his services. How could he be unhappy?

Lewis didn't visit other teams because he wasn't asked. So his comments about not going out of love of the city is just spin control.

Most fans will disagree with me because they will want Ray's loyalty to the franchise and most importantly to the fans.

But loyalty is a two way street. When McAlister and Rolle were cut, it was "just business". Fans acknowledged that they were unable top help the team so they were let go. Willie Anderson could be the next casualty. He was very capable in his role but if Orlando Pace is signed he's gone. Please keep in mind that Ozzie Newsome was quoted in the paper as saying that they were not bringing in any tackles at this time.

If I'm Anderson I'm pretty pissed and disrepected. Yet no one rushes to his defense because we see a potentially better player.

I'm sure once Lewis is out still playing at a hgh level most people won't care. But if you choose to boo him, really think why you are doing it? I'd love to be convinced that it makes sense.

i have an understanding when it comes to Ray.

there is not another guy i want to play MLB for us in the league.

however, when it comes to off the field, he is better left without a microphone near him. the guy is not a good public speaker. in fact, most of the time when he finishes everyone is left looking around wondering if he was just speaking english or just a language that sounds similar.

Exactly, it took Ray 13 years to even think about leaving. Now fans lose respect after him being a free agent for not even a month. Get over it guys, for real. He's gonna retire here, the future is what you need to be looking at! I will lose my fu*king mind if i see Ravens' fans booing Ray. If you are a Ravens' fan, you need to also be a fan of Ray Lewis. He helped bring us our first of many superbowls. And countless other things he's done for not only the team, but Baltimore as well.:respect :T2:

This.

It would be too much to ask of Ray Lewis to be the greatest MLB ever on the field, leading by example and leading with charisma, and then asking him to be a first rate diplomat off the field.

So, we are lucky to have him, imperfect as he is.

First, all of you stop it.

Second, and I am just having a bit of fun here, but you should be grammatically correct when correcting another's grammar.

Obviously is an adverb which would be used to modify a verb. You are modifying a noun here (grammar) and should use the adjective obvious where you used the adverb obviously.

Signed,

Grammar Marm

P.S. I was quite the average English student in school. I can guarantee you can find mistakes made by me.

P.P.S. After consideration if obviously is modifying the adjective poor then the use of the adverb obviously is proper and I am quite wrong in my critique. No wonder I did much better on my math SAT in comparison to my English SAT.

But doesnt obviously modify "poor" and not "grammar"? If you remove "poor", you would not say "obviously grammar", hense the modification is on the word "poor"

Absolutely. Some of the other Ravens connect better with the fan base, and conduct their business with the team in a way that doesn't devalue the player's relationship with the community.

Ray is not one of those players.

On the other hand, he is Ray freaking Lewis, so he can negotiate however he wants, he's welcome when he gets here.

Not sure if you're disagreeing or not, Joker, I don't *think* so... The horse, dead these several weeks, is beaten enough, regardless.

I can't think of one player who connects better with the fanbase than Ray Lewis.

A stadium 60-70% full of his jersey is all the proof I need.

At the same time, I can't think of one athlete who plays for a team in Baltimore who's relationship with the community is greater than Ray Lewis'.

His efforts in the community, especially the lower-income segment of our great city, is legendary.

Now William Shakespeare was a great speaker!

But he couldn't analyze a play or lay out a running back like Ray Lewis.

And the bottom line is football, so the relatively small number of fans who are butt hurt about Ray's contract negotiations won't matter anyway.

I never said he wasn't the face of the franchise, I never said he wasn't one of the all time greats to lace up cleats, and I never said he wasn't the leader of the team on the field. Put those things together, you get a guy who sells jerseys.

Remember this off season how you want, I don't care. My butt wasn't ever hurt by the way he clumsily pursued this last payday, but my expectations were lower than some people's.

I'm not saying your butt was hurt. I was just making a general statement.

And there will always be fans who either love Ray Lewis because he's built a legacy in our town, or hate Ray Lewis simply because of what happened in Atlanta, believe it or not.

But in the end, the number of fans who embrace Ray Lewis the way he's embraced Baltimore his entire career will still be a vast sea of Purple Passion, while the haters won't amount to two drops of piss in a Depends undergarment.:D

and i do not claim that my grammar is perfect, hell i just started a sentence with "and".

but you still do not get it.

my initial correction of your post was the irony of you calling someone "stupid" and then making a simple grammatical error in the same sentence. it had nothing to do with "misspelling a word." you spelled the word properly, just used the wrong form of the word. a basic grammatical error while calling someone else "stupid."

Well in that case, wouldn't you address your self as "I" not "i"? Doesn't the start of each sentence start witha capital letter? As you are correcting my dumbass, shouldn't you be working on your mistakes as well????? I am just saying.....

As for Houston, I am not sure if you ever read his post but, he never talks football. That's the main reason I am here. Houston does usually get my panties in a bunch, but most of the time I get his pretty little girlfriend to sort them out for me and everything is all better.

as long as we get each other.........finally.

as for my capitalization skills, i do not care to capitalize. not a mistake, just laziness.

however, the irony of me correcting your usage of a word when i, myself do not care to use a capital letter is a bit comical. although not as much because i never use a capital letter on here unless writing a person's name and such. touche'

aside from that, did someone say "pie"?

NOOOOOOOOOOO, the thread is NOT "stupid". Your stupid!!!!!

Ray Lewis never did anything to me personally, but as a Baltimore Raven football fan, some of his comments were a little uncalled for. I am talking about the one's I heard with my own ears. I was just saying after the official signing of the deal I forgave him. This is a place to come and say your opinion's.

I always forget the saying "there is one in every bunch":grbac:

Specifically, which comments were uncalled for and please quote him. I'm dying to know because I followed the whole offseason and I didn't hear a thing.

The interview he did with Jamie Dukes at the pro bowl. I didn't like some of them, just my personal opinion. But I would love to get back to talking about my favorite player and football team. Did you hear/see that interview?

All that's left is for you to go upstairs and turn your beds into bunk beds so that you'll have more room for activities and stuff!:ww:

I heard it in its entirety. I think people pick and choose to hear what they want to. I heard Dukes bringing up "playing for Rex" and "what about Dallas". He was asked and he answered. I think the MOST important part of that interview for me was his statement "I'm not even comfortable talking about this, this shouldn't even be an issue right now"...implying the Ravens should have gotten the deal done and he DIDN'T want to have this conversation about ever playing for another team. He also said in that interview "Baltimore is MY city". Why were these comments ignored?

I just watched a video on NFL.com with Ray right after his contract was agreed upon.

Same things basically. It's funny how fickle fans can be. While I still think he bothced the PR angle of his negotiations, the fans preception of him wanting to play some where else was overblown, IMO.

They were ignored because of a deep-seeded inferiority/persecution complex a lot of Ravens fans have had since the Colts left town.

It doesn't have to make sense as long they can portray themselves as victims. :grbac:
