View Full Version : Once Again, Kudos To Ravens Organization

I've stated on numerous occasions that I believe the Ravens to have the best damn organization and coaching staff in the entire NFL! It starts with SB who fired a SB winning coach, a coach who I will always recognize as having been responsible for bringing a SB trophy to charm city. SB realized a change had to be made, and, in hindsight, he was absolutely correct - it was time for a change. Secondly, we have a GM who during the offseason sured up the secondary, O-line, and fullback position, not to mention his ongoing success in the various drafts - kudos Ozzie! And, finally, the coaching staff. All I can say is, Mr Bisciotti, you better make sure we don't lose these guys, including the best O-line coach in the business, Mr. Matsko!!

Concur. Big Billick fan, and skeptical of firing him. However, I also recognized that he had several weaknesses as a HC, mostly concerning tactics and clock management. However, he has extraordinary strengths as an organizer. I just wish we'd been able to keep him in the mix somehow in the FO, serving as Eisenhower to Harbaugh's Patton, or something like that.

Or CAM CAMERON but were bound to lose him at some point.

Most people forget this is still a young organization and Oz was a baby GM when he won the trophy. Then he had to gut the SB team and came within 8 plays of going to the POs when one of the youngest teams in history.

He finally got the monkey off his back and got a franchise QB to lead us to more SBs.

Now, if he can only get us a TO without the attitude.

Hell, I'd settle for Chad Johnson right now. If we had a WR of his caliber, I think we'd be a lock for the AFC Championship game.

Great Observation - I loved both the book and the movie! The French underground were a hearty and courageous bunch, unlike the Vichey French.

Keep the faith, marine! We may just do it.

Oh I never lose faith in the Ravens.

I was one of those guys back in 2000 holding a "We beleive in Tony Banks" banner before he got benched for good...:rolling:

At one game, Jonathan Ogden walked by my banner, read it and rolled his eyes like he was pissed off!!:eyes:

Years later in the parking lot area of Candlestick Park I asked J.O. about Tony Banks and let's just say the big man didn't like him...:D

BTW, my favorite part of WWII was the battle in the Pacific...You know, battles like Iwo Jima, Tarawa, Tinian, etcetera... Hmmmmm, I wonder why?http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/images/smilies/iwo.gif

Wasnt it Tony Banks who threw the TD in the end zone before the half in Ex lax field and lost the game for us.

Billick was pissed then. I think thats when he was finally benched.

Hey, like I said, the Ravens were a young organization back then.

Partially correct. Tony threw the interception just before the half. He played the remainder of that game, lost 3-10 to the Danny Snyders. He started the next TD-less game, against the Titans, but was replaced by Dilfer, who also couldn't lead the team to a TD in the Titans loss, or in the loss the following week to the Stillers.

Notwithstanding the TD-less streak, for which Tony was the fall guy for Billick's inept offensive game planning, no Ravens QB before or since has lit up the passing game like Banks did in the 2nd half of '99.

I think I still have that Tony Banks banner and it may be worth something someday at a Ravens nostalgia convention! :rolling:

...........
He wasnt too crazy with Boller either. I remember when he went down and with the fans booing him, Ogden and the entire O-line stood off on the side and didnt even look down at him or to see if he was Ok........

ILMAO.

I not sure that would be a redeeming quality considering the anger here when that happened!
Swell, so JO and the O-line are assholes also???

nice commentary in the BSun about Stevie Ray Biscuit's coaching change. BBillick was the right coach at the right time; no one will take his ring away; but it was time for a change. any doubt about whether Harbs was the right man? watching Garret on the Cowgirl sideline Saturday night blankly looking at his play sheet, compared to Harbs running the team and calling the fake punt...what a contrast. and I can't imagine a recycle job like Mariucci (who could succeed with the righ team) doing any better.
I remember all the preseason picks had us 4th with the Brownies contending and the Bengalis around 500.
no one expected this success!!!
Bravo Zulu, Ravens Management!!!

Actually, having Cameron on board at this point in his career is EXCELLENT for the Ravens. Not only is he a great OC and doing wonders for our rookie QB and our offense in general, but he just bombed out as a head coach, and miserably at that. The Dolphins are probably going 11-5 and winning their division this season, but Cameron couldn't do better than 1-15 with them. That means he's not likely to get another look for a HC vacancy for a while, if ever... and we could have our very own version of Tom Moore (Indy's OC) on our hands here. A guy who's a really good OC but isn't ever going to take that next step. Now, Rex Ryan we're going to lose at some point... but Cameron could be with us for a very long time.

Losing faith is NOT in the marines dictionary - never has been, and never will be!
The American GI represents the best in OUR way of life!

Great Movie! The Duke, along with Clint Eastwood, personified the American GI in a way no other actor could.
