View Full Version : Ray's last game?

Just something to think about (Casey Willett brought this up in a blog) ...
The Jags game on Sunday could possibly be Ray Lewis' final game in Baltimore.
This is the first time in Ray's career that he has not been under contract for the following season. I'm kind of thinking it is a foregone conclusion that he is back in purple next year, but nothing in the NFL is ever guaranteed. It was very sobering for me to think this may be the last time we walk into M&T to watch Ray play.

Maybe it's the Kool-Aid or purple glasses but I do not believe this is the last game Ray will play in Baltimore....as a Raven. Worst case is we tag him but I don't think Steve-B will let him go.

Ray has said dozens of times he wants to stay .....
Bisciotti has said a few times he will pay to keep Ray here .....
Sounds like a little media-induced paranoia to me.

This thought makes me sad.
Let's focus on the playoff possiblities!

Unless someone wants to pay Ray stupid money, he will be back.

Hopefully the Ravens don't over pay for him.

I've heard rumors on NFL dot com that Jerry Jones is EXTREMELY interested in bringing in Ray Lewis.
That would be 10 times more destructive to my heart than the Colts being stolen beneath the cover of darkness.

If it come down to him going to Dallas or staying here, i don't care what the price is he must stay...no way I could watch him play for Dallas it would be by far the worst thing ever IMO!

Harbs and the team say just focus on the next game.
But we are fans and we can speculate.
In this case though probably best just to appreciate him in purple against Jax.
I'm glad I don't have to make the gut-wrenching decisions as to next years team. I'm fully expecting to see N.O. waving the checkbook at Scott for starters.

No way, no How. I cant see the ravens letting him walk away from the club.
You'd have to think that the ravens would franchise him before Jerry Jones or any team ever gets a chance to talk to his agent.
He's gonna be a raven....dont worry.

It is possible and a sad thought, but I dont think there is anyway Ray leaves. We will "overpay" him in some peoples eyes, but he is worth every single penny we give him.

I thought a deal was "in the bag" already?
Whatever, Bisciotti won't let Ray leave.
And from a long-term business perspective, Ray should know that it is in his best interest to stay. He's on the Mount Rushmore of Baltimore sports, his value is greater here than anywhere else.

So you wouldn't care if the entire team is mortgaged as long as Ray stays?
Sorry, I'm all for keeping him in B-more to retire a Raven, but not at the cost of the entire team.

I think you are obviously going overboard here. They can over pay and still make the numbers work out. He is still a top 3 LB in this league and I have no problem with the team paying him as such. Yes we need other key players as well and when we cut Cmac and the other garbage on this team we can sign Ray and the rest. IMO Ray himself is worth about 3 wins a year or more with not only his play but the way he is able to elevate others play and his pure knowledge of the game....did you not see Ray calling out the Cowboys plays on Sat that alone is huge!

You are going to have to show us some numbers because I don't know how you pay Ray big, then find money for Suggs, Bart Scott, a wide receiver, and another cornerback.

Beting Ray will be back, Suggs too, but Scott I'm not so sure about.
I'd like to see them introduce Rex though, betting it's his last game here. With as many job openings as there will probably be this off season, Rex probably either gets one, or decides he's suffering because of the talent on the Ravens defense making his job in coaching them look questionable. Billick's ouster, Mike Nolan's too and Jack Del Rio looking badly this season probably all hurt Rex's case a bit. Plus there's Marvin.
Guessing that if Rex doesn't get a HC gig, he'll have to go be a DC elsewhere in order to get some respect, kind of like Marvin to the Skins back in the day.

I hope you are correct, please Ozzie don't hand cuff this team for several years.
