According to ESPN, Plax took a gun into a night club and shot himself ....
Only thing they are saying is it was accidental and not life threatening.
What an idiot!

Some of these players are just morons. Even if he has a permit to carry a gun, why? If he is worried about his safety for whatever reason, hire a bodyguard who has a permit. He does realize he makes millions and millions of dollars, right?

It's New York -- highly unlikely he had a permit. And even if he did, no state that allows carry permits let you carry where they serve alcohol.
Him carrying a gun, on it's face, doesnt bother me one bit. Tens of millions of people do it everyday without incident.
What bothers me if he did so illegally AND took it into a club where they serve alcohol. What a first class, grade-A idiot.?!?!?!

They said details of the incident weren't available. Here's my guess...
"Yo homies, look at my new Glock....3.5 lb trigga!!!"

These guys to crack me up. The things that they get into trouble over.
Just hire a driver.
Just have bodyguards.
How about simply changing your habits and not going to places like that.
Hell, how about bringing the dancers to your spot instead of going to the strip joint.
Lots of this has to do with that invincibility complex or a delusion of grandeur.
Hey, I don't tell folks how to have their fun, but you must understand the consequences of going into certain environments.
Your body is an investment.

I don't think anyone will ever convince me that carrying a gun is ever a good idea, but that's a different opinion for a different discussion. For NFL players it's simply unnecessary, fair enough if you want to own one, if you want to go hunting or whatever, but my word how dumb can you be.
I hope the Giants go after as much money as they can get from Plax's contract if Plax has put himself out for the year, utter moron.

Stockers, I don’t know let’s ask Sean Taylor, Javon Walker, Antoine Walker, Darrent Williams, Eddie Curry, Richard Collier, Dunta Robinson, Bryan Pata ....

What is it with ex-squeelers and comedy firearm injuries? First Porter in the ass, now Plax in the leg.
I'm taking Randle-El to shoot himself in the left nut next at 5/1.
I'm taking Randle-El to shoot himself in the left nut next at 5/1.
If they let Bradshaw handle a gun I would give him 30 seconds before he put one through his head, where little damage would be done.

Lets be real. These are football players. They are not the smartest people on the planet.

I'm a thinkin' that if the place you are going out to for the evening makes you think you need to pack heat when you go, maybe this is not the place you should be going to to begin with.
That's just me thinking with a little logic though.

Fanatic,
You should know that logic and football players do not mix.
And if I was getting paid what Burress is getting paid, I'd never go out. I'd simply have friends come to my house, which I would have stocked with every piece of entertainment equipment known to man.

Some of them are bright. I'll cite _Next Man Up_ for JO, and it's my sense from listening to interviews that of the current crop, Mason, Clayton and Ngata are among several Ravens who aren't idjits.

Actually, the average NFL player's IQ is slightly higher than the average.
The problem tends to be in their nuture, not their nature.

As for Plastic HEAD Buress.. I'm just glad that the Ravens did not trade for him nor sign him. He is a first class JERK. He made a great Catch in the Super Bowl. he should have KNOWN that it was his 15 minutes of Fame...then Retired to "HOMEY-VILLE"....
I loved the comment above.. Hey ..look at my new Glock with the 3.5 lb Trigger.. never a good idea to mix GUNS and BOOZE!!!

NYC has mandatory minimum of 3.5 years for illegal possesion of a firearm & Mayor Bloomberg boasted last year that NYC had the toughest statue in the country for this type of infraction & there are "No Exceptions". Also Antonio Pierce could face charges because he took the gun back to Jersy & hid it.

Pierce is an idiot too.
I am kinda curious what gun he may have been carrying. I heard a report that the gun slipped down his leg, Plax went to grab it and it went off. I also read he had a permit in Florida but it expired in May of this year.
Umm, ever hear of a safety? And further more, New York doesnt allow out of state permits, even it was an active permit.
The level of stupidity around this is growing by the hour.
He would have been in jail years ago, if he wasn't in the NFL.....

Too bad he did not blow his balls off, in turn ending any chance at breeding more stupid into this world.

Florida permits are incredibly easy to get, a lot of guys get them (you can do it mail order) and then if they do get busted in a state like this one or NY they can claim ignorance, even though it isn't a valid defense it is still a mitigating factor.
Glocks don't have external safeties, neither do XD's, most Sig's, a lot of pistols don't. 1911s and HK USPs are the most popular pistols that have them, I doubt he was carrying either. Ruger P series too, but they are kinda cheap, not good enough for Plax I'm sure...

Would carrying a gun have helped Sean Taylor? when he was lying in bed? And as for all those others, would carrying a gun have helped in drive-by shootings? In my opinion, the fact that one can legally carry a handgun makes all the more difficult to weed out the illegal carriers!

I heard on either NBC or NFL Network it was a .40 caliber pistol...no childs play by any means.
Plax is an idiot and should get the book thrown at him.

And on an ironic note, Steve Smith of the Giants was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday morning when returning home to the gated community he lives in. How did someone rob him at his front door in his neighborhood? It was the driver who brought him home that pulled a gun on him, maybe that's why they like to drive themselves... :D

PFT states he had a Glock.
I carry a Glock and you have to be a responsible, disciplined owner to carry one. They have no external safety, only a trigger safety.
I am willing to bet he had zero training on it's use or gone through any safety class. I hope NY throws the books at him. He gives the millions of law abiding and responsible gun carrying citizens a bad name.
His stupidity grows by the minute.
