my best interpretations of the byzantine NFL playoff formulae...
if season ended today Ravens would be #6 seed/wild card and open by visiting either the Stoolers or Jets.
AFC top teams;
Titans 10-1 will win South
Jets 8-3 will probably win East
Stoolers 8-3 1st place North
Broncos 6-5 either they or the Chargers will win the West.
Colts 7-4 very easy schedule.
Ravens 7-4 moderate sched
Cheatriots also 7-4; miss playoffs (as of today) based on tiebreaker.
I seriously doubt anyone else will be in the picture.
remaining games:
Colts @ Cleve, Cinci, Det, @ Jax, Tenn pretty easy
Jets Denver, @SF, Buff, @ Sttle, Miami. no problem
Pats Stoolers, @ Sttle, @ Oakland, Ariz, @ Buff. could win out.
Ravens @ Cinci, Skins, Stoolers, @Dallas, Jax. tough but all winnable.
Colts have huge edge in that they've beaten Ravens and Cheatriots head/head.
looks to me like Ravens have better shot at winning division; figure Stoolers will lose either to NE or Tenn, which would leave us tied, with the Ravens-Stoolers rematch in Baltimore.
next two weeks' Stoolers-Cheatriots and Ravens-Stoolers will be huge in deciding who gets in.
which poses this dilemna. for whom do we root against next week, Cheatriots (a loss will give Ravens a lead in WC), or Stoolers (division lead and general principles).
maybe they'll tie?
