bad start with a Heap fumble :(
I started one too....
Heap gave up another BAD fumble!
RavenScallywag
09-07-2008, 01:08 PM
and then they screw us on the Carson "down by contact fumble"
At least the D is looking good...great pressure!!
RavenScallywag
09-07-2008, 01:11 PM
ok Offense, here comes your do-over!
StingerNLG
09-07-2008, 01:13 PM
I don't care how good you are. You miss training camp and preseason, this shit happens.
I'm at the game, I'll give whatever in-house updates I can.
Come on Mason, make that catch!!
RavenScallywag
09-07-2008, 01:15 PM
False start on a punt????
I gotta say that Flacco looks DAMN poised!! He looks really comfortable out there!!
RavenScallywag
09-07-2008, 01:16 PM
I'd give the O a C+ at the moment...looks better than expected, but not getting anything done
jonboy79
09-07-2008, 01:21 PM
FWIW, Matt Ryan compelted his first pass for 62 yards for a touchdown.
The D looks good thus far, the O does too except for Heap.

Yeah, but thats Detroit!?! ;)

Stan just said he's holding the ball too long on the pass to Mason, who usually catches that pass 9 of 10 times.
Joe has to get a quicker release.
Screw Stan White. He's just mad that Troy Smith isn't starting.
There was nothing wrong with Flacco's pass. Mason didn't have it.
Yeah baby...good pick CMac, good tip Reed!!
StingerNLG
09-07-2008, 01:25 PM
McAlister with the pick!!!!!
Awesome hit to set that up too.
We kept 3pts off the board.
Little behind, but a good throw!!
jonboy79
09-07-2008, 01:29 PM
Flacco looks good, and I agree Stan EHite is not only a horrible announcer, btu a true Oh St homer that hangs on Troy's nuts as much as Mizzo and General Hightower....

We're running a no-huddle offense?
StingerNLG
09-07-2008, 01:30 PM
Stinger,
Well why don't you get out your stop watch and time it yourself.
Joe's been holding too long all summer.
I don't need a stopwatch. I'm watching him right now.
That pass to Clayton seemed quick enough to me.
What an awesome play...never would have seen that under Billick!!!!
RavenDavey
09-07-2008, 01:32 PM
We're running a no-huddle offense?
i think it give Joe a "comfort zone" as he runs the O. Bring it on!!
Beerracuda
09-07-2008, 01:33 PM
And Flacco with an important block on that play!!!
7-0 Ravens!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!!
If Billick calls that play, it's a loss of 8 yards.
StingerNLG
09-07-2008, 01:34 PM
Holy SHIT!!!!!!!!!!
The double reverse!!!!! Are you kidding me????
The flip-hand-off was like a Harlem Globetrotters move!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Fucking gorgeous!!!!

WOW! That was awesome!!! Gutsy play call and a great run by Clayton!

The double reverse!!!!! Are you kidding me????
The flip-hand-off was like a Harlem Globetrotters move!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!

Its not a "double" reverse. It was a regular reverse. A double reverse is when it goes -> <- ->
Why does everyone think thats a double reverse? 3 guys have to touch the ball BESIDES the QB in order to be a double reverse!!!
StingerNLG
09-07-2008, 01:42 PM

Wait what?? That's exactly what it did. Looked to me like Flacco gave to someone, and he flipped it to Clayton the other way.
Sounds like a double reverse to me. I'll have to wait to get home to see it again.
Stan and John are calling it a double reverse and that particular style is a new one in the league.
As I posted above, STan said Joe's great fake on the first reverse is what sold the 2d reverse and the blockers have to do their job.
The Ravens are winning it on the line right now.
The guys running past the QB (fake handoff) don't matter. Its how many guys touch the ball after the QB hands it off. On that play, 2 guys only touched the ball, hence the standard reverse.
The talking heads have it wrong, as they usually do!!!

Think about what you just typed! Thats the definition of a reverse. Start one way then hand it off/flick the ball and go the other. To be a double reverse, Clayton would have had to hand it to another player!
RavensInBrazil
09-07-2008, 01:47 PM
If it was just one receiver running, it would have been an end-around. Two receivers makes it a reverse. If just one receiver touching the ball made a reverse, what direction would he be reversing from?
jonboy79
09-07-2008, 01:49 PM
Whatever it was, Billick wouldn't have called it.
I'm pretty sure it was a standard reverse though. Mason went one way, Clayton the other.
Well Brady went down in the NE/KC game.....Patriots are DONE!!!
It looked like a double to me.
I'm going with the radio guys, not you.
Well, you heard it here first, and I'm saying YOU and the IDIOTS on TV have it wrong, as usual!!!
Heres the definition from Wiki: A classic reverse typically begins as a bootleg, sweep or end-around, but before the ball-carrier crosses the line of scrimmage he hands the ball off to a teammate, usually a wide receiver, running in the reverse (opposite) direction. Because many of the defensive players will have gravitated in the direction of the original rusher, if the second ball-carrier can outrun the defenders to the other side of the field, he has a very good chance to make a big gain.
A variation of this play is a double reverse, in which the second ball-carrier takes the ball all or part way back across the field before he too hands off to a teammate running in the opposite direction. This causes the flow of the play to "reverse" a second time. A double reverse adds another level of surprise to the defense; however, the play takes more time and space to develop and increases the risk of a big loss or a fumbled handoff.
If it was just one receiver running, it would have been an end-around. Two receivers makes it a reverse. If just one receiver touching the ball made a reverse, what direction would he be reversing from?
Whatever it was, Billick wouldn't have called it.
I'm pretty sure it was a standard reverse though. Mason went one way, Clayton the other.
Thank You! Now back on topic: Flacco missed a TD....

From what I've seen Terry isn't looking too bad. I assume he's playing RT.
Close there from Flacco. It's a shame he didn't get more time with the starters to more chemistry developed. But still...

Oh Ray Rice... oh well.
Ray Rice w/the drop...he would have had some serious yardage!!

Flacco looking good against pressure.

Pryce still out. Douglas may have been a big pickup...
Does anyone on this board still think roy should be handed the job back when healthy? Flacco looks 100 times as good as he ever has.

he had a hand on his back as he hi him from the side... borderline correc call. it sucks.
It was called a block in the back wasn't it? His right hand was on the guy's back.
Yeah, but the kicker fell down sideways, rather than on his stomach...I don't know, technically yes, it was, but that was kind of touchy to me....
Heap DOES look out of sorts...he needs a few games

Wow...our D is looking fantastic! It starts with the front 4! Suggs wants a new contract, huh?

Ok Joe. Calm down brother. Stop forcing the balll. He's starting to stiffen up a little.
Of course Rice getting tripped up for -2 can't help.
Ray Ray is STILL the man!!

I thought that would have been holding on the O, I'll take the facemask on the Cincy D!!

09-07-2008, 02:20 PM

Ray Rice is gonna be a baller...I've got him on ALL of my Fantasy teams. 10yd run, prolly would have had a TD if he could have held onto the ball!!

Over what timeline? I can almsot assure you he wont get another contract, I'm not sure he will see the end of this one. He has to show some of his probowl form this year to be here next.
I don't think that was a push...
jonboy79
09-07-2008, 02:29 PM
I'm hearing Zbikowski's name as being in on Defense a lot.; I think he's our Dime Back. I like it.
I missed it at the beginning when i was getting Breakfast. Why doesnt Chad Johnson have Ocho Cinqo on his back?

I'll be honest, this position worries me. Going into the second half having given up a few chances to put more TDs on the board, this is what we've historically done. Joe is looking okay, but only okay. Obviously struggling a bit in the 2nd quarter, overthrowing his receivers, who haven't been helping by dropping passes.
D is looking pretty solid. Hopefully they maintain their level and Ray and Joe can get a few more drives going.
RavenTD
09-07-2008, 02:50 PM
You know I'd love to see when Rice and McGahee are both running down hill in the backfield. With McClain adding to the hurt.A weak D'line iis going to get beaten up pretty bad.
The passing game is only a few inches off.Something time with correct.
D is way ahead of where I thought it would be.And I just love my Raven mouse mat.
And Figurs you are sizzling.

Arg. On second look, not a fumble, receiver didn't have possession. Dumb penalty at the end by Rolle anyway.

Now John Sandusky is calling the Clayton TD an end around.
I always heard an end around not beign handed to the runner by another wr that got the ball on an end around though... I think its a reverse.

Speaking of Billick, why did he start Grubbs on right last year if LOG was his natural position?
Harb's staff moved Grubbs over during camp.
Because Brown was a solid young incumbent at the position, and RG was up for grabs.

I would like to nominate Lo' Neal for the gameball. Ya see him killin kitties in the 2nd half. Run behind him was good for 5 yards a clip.

Delighted, Delighted, Fookin Delighted. I'm excited for seeing how many wins we can get this season. Can we ride the emotion of a new HC, power running and good D to the playoffs. But more importantly I'm excited to see where we are in the future. Flacco today seemed ready, willing and able to put the entire fan base of his back. It's been one game and he's united a fan base that has fought over QBs for the best part of 12 years.
Fan freaking tastic!!!!!
Love It!!!!
