Now that Cleveland signed Anderson to a new deal would you try to get Quinn with our #8 pick!

Why do that when we could just get Brohm/Ryan? At this point they're not really that different

Are the Clowns even dealing Quinn? May as well speculate on getting Peyton Manning.

Even if we were interested in such a deal I highly doubt Cleveland would trade him to a division rival ~ especially us.

There is NO rational reason to offer our #8 pick for Quinn!

First, Quinn wasn't worth the #8 pick in his own draft... he got bypassed by Miami at #9 and plummeted to the back end of the first round. He hasn't gotten on the field so he's effectively the same guy, without being proven in the NFL in any way.

Second, someone taking Quinn off the Browns' hands is doing them a favor right now. I know they'd prefer to keep him and dealing away a hometown kid may be bad for PR, but with the way they climbed out of the gutter last year they can stomach the move. What they WILL need to do is deal with having two starter-level contracts for QBs for the next three years. They could stomach a cap hit for Quinn by dealing him now and stick with Anderson for the next few years and possibly beyond, without having that second big QB contract on their books.

I'm not against the thought of dealing for Quinn, but it's our second-round pick we should be offering, and that would be a solid deal if they take it, for both sides. The real impediment is that we're a division rival. If they send Quinn to us, he becomes a star and Anderson flops, the entire front office will get canned over it... regardless of what they get in trade for Quinn. If Quinn goes to, say, Tampa Bay and becomes a star, they won't care quite as much.

They would for a good deal...That said, I agree with the above poster...My views on Quinn would be about equal with Matt Ryan or Brian Brohm, and there's a chance we can have Brian Brohm with our 2nd round pick.

I don't think Cleveland is going to part with either QB. Their cap situation is favorable and they are obviously making a run for it this year with their latest free agent signings.

Phil Savage sure knows how to wheel and deal.

Funny how a bunch of people were blasting Savage a couple of years ago for making idiot moves for the Browns...sure doesn't look that way anymore. It's a pity we lost him indeed

He went #22 last year and we should give up #8 for him this year?

I'd trade our second rounder for him. He showed some promise in game time last season. Hell, I'd give 'em our second and throw in a fifth rounder too if they wanted.

Well, the jury is still out on how these moves will actually pan out on the field. I'm not sure I necessarily agree with giving away so many draft picks and I'm really not all that sold on Anderson so I think they are paying an awful lot for him. Especially since they have Quinn, while you never know how a young qb will pan out they did give up picks to get him. This could be a chicken one day feathers the next kind of off season for the Browns. That said, I'm not sure I wouldn't be happier with Savage running things than Ozzie. At least things happen with Savage while Ozzie always seems to have us smack up against the cap and waiting around for the left overs. I don't know...

I'm not sure Quinn is worth our pick at 8 and their next TWO first round picks... actially yes I'd do that, but not one.

Uh, what are you talking about? Quinn signed a 5 year 10 million dollar deal. His cap hit is about a million dollars less than the Ravens backup QB this year.

Phil Savage was just on Mike & Mike ....

Both QB's will be on the team next season. He is not going to deal either of them.

Savage should keep 'em both. Who is to say which DA shows up this season, the accurate one or the one who threw 4 picks in their last game with Cincy.

McNair's deal trumps both together this year. It would next year too i bet if he were still here. As you say, Boller is makinf more this year, cap-wise. TS is real cheap though.

Looks like the Vikings might be trading for him :

The Browns have quarterback Derek Anderson signed to start, but have no picks in the first three rounds of April's NFL draft. According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Browns backup QB Brady Quinn could possibility be traded to the Vikings for their first-round pick (No. 17 overall).

Sportsline is quoting an article written by Charley Walters 2 days ago. Here is that article:

Clearly, Sportsline and / or CBS didnt watch listen to Mike & Mike this morning. Phil Savage is a lot of things, but a liar is not one of them. If Savage says Quinn isnt going to be dealt, I take him at his word.

Lying has absolutely nothing to do with it. You never tell a guy you're trying to trade him, cause it makes him disgruntled and think less of the team. He could say something stupid to the media ("I want out") which lowers his value. He could get upset and not give 100% if you can't move him. etc...

They also don't want to admit they're trying to move him cause that inherently lowers his value. If you say you're holding onto him no matter what, it's going to push the price to the max. Think about when you want something someone else has. If you know that person's looking to get rid of it, are you gonna offer as much as you would if you think the person's completely unwilling to part ways with it?

I doubt they'll move Quinn, but I don't know that I take anything like this at face value.

In today's NFL, it is a real asset to have 2 quality QBs on the roster. However, if Savage received an unbelievable offer for either one of them, I think he would gamble and trade one for a first round pick, plus maybe a second or third. I don't believe anything is etched in stone with these GM's. I may be wrong, but that's what I believe.
