View Full Version : Billick respects decision on firing
http://www.carrollcountytimes.com/articles/2008/02/26/sports/dsports022608.txt
A article from the Carroll County Times about BB. It pretty much says what we already know but it's still a good read.

He says he respects it, but he does get in a few potshots about how "he's never been given a reason for his firing" and "he doesn't agree with the change of voice, since the 13-3 voice seemed to be a good one". Billick is a great guy, but his ego still shone through this interview a little at parts.

No matter who you are, and what the circumstances, Everyone deserves to be given the reason as to why they are let go - simple professional courtesy! I agree with the decision to let Brian go; but his perspective is definitely understandable - 13-3 the year before; insurmountable injuries; etc are reasons enough for anyone to question Why they are being fired.

check out the other thread on this board about Billick, some good discussion about this very topic there.

I don't see why anyone would have a problem with that -- anyone who gets canned should at least get an explanation as to why they are getting canned.
Under the circumtances, I think Billick has been pretty classy about his firing.

I agree, Billick is being classy about this, but I also have a lot of respect for Billick. His hate-me act with the media worked and the whole media hates him - but at least the shifted all the focus off Ray Lewis and his problems in 2000.
As for anyone getting canned getting an explanation - good luck. Life sure would be nice if there was - but good luck getting an explanation from about anyone unless you're fired for criminal cause. Then you'll get charged. Otherwise you'd get made up excuses. :grbac:

Sometimes it should be pretty obvious why he was let go - WE SUCKED !!!
Okay we did not invest heavily with the Offence, BUT we were so badly managed at times: Play calling / Clock management / Stupid penalties - all were in Billick's court to resolve. These are things you can do something about!!!

For me, Brian's firing was rough since the guy was so damn likable. From time to time, my friends and I would get up early on Sunday's and try and catch Brian walking across the Ostend St bridge to the stadium. He is such a class act! He would talk to us and actually ask us questions about things we liked and disliked about the team.

Geez, where did he park? They don't even let the head coach park in the players lot?
Actually, the Ostend St. bridge is south of the stadium, he walked over the Hamburg St. bridge on the north side.

The night before games he stayed in a downtown hotel and would walk to the stadium, crossing the bridge around 11:00 am. He said he did it to clear his head and also to get a feel for the excitement brewing in the tailgate lots.

WOW, It's amazing that he didn't need security doing something so bold!

So true, especially when you see the vitirol and apparent hatred expressed towards him here and at YBR

I don't it was hatred. Fans were just ready for a change. I think everyone appreicates everything he did for this team.
