View Full Version : When Will J.O. Make a Decision?

Some people think the restructuring is a sign of J.O.'s retirement. His brother Marquess stated on WNST last week on Rob Long's show that he already knows his brother's decision.
When J.O. played in the last game of the year, he said he would not drag this thing out and let the Ravens know right after the Super Bowl? Why is it then that we haven't heard anything? It appears that he is dragging this thing out again.
Why would J.O. want to come back and play since we are in a rebuilding mode? Certainly with the age of the team and the injuries we had last year, we are clearly not a Super Bowl team. What is his incentive to return?
I would think the team would want to know before the draft. Does anyone know the answer?

JO knows the answer and he will tell the team when he's ready. As long as he tells them before the draft I don't see why this is an issue.

Agree with JimBone.
I think the decision has already been made.
The question would rather seem to be, "When will JO publically announce it?"
Ravens heading into the draft I don't think is going to make any difference.
I think management will know JO's decision if they don't already.
While there has been some change in management, I remember last year that the organisation held a tight grip on Samari's epilepsy info until Samari himself came public.
No reason to think that the same wouldn't apply if JO has already told them his decision. They will wait until he decides to go public, and I can understand his delay.
I can be 99% sure of something, but still hesitate to completely close the door until I have to, just in case.
My guess is that he is heading off into the sunset (with our gratitude for giving us an incredible career).

I agree that JO has earned the right to take his time in making this decision. I think that the most likely scenario is that the team already has been told, or has a very good idea what his decision will be. They are simply waiting for JO himself to announce it. If that is not the case, then he should let the front office know asap, so they know if LT is a draft need. I don't see Terry as the immediate or long term answer there. And it's too early to say anything about Gaither.

Why does anyone assume that he hasn't already let the team know about his decision? His retirement may have a big impact on our draft strategy (Clady in the first round)...his keeping it under wraps may very well be intentional.

I totally agree. The Ravens have always seemed to be tight lipped about a lot of things, often it seems for whatever "competitive advantage" that it might give them. Going into the draft, having other teams not sure of what decisions you are going to make is a good thing. I too think the team likely already knows.
