If there is someone out there that can at least explain or has a well thought out theory as to why Jim Schwartz a guy with a good NFL coaching resume, a local guy, cannot get an interview with his own hometown team.. Nobody says you have to hire the guy.!!!. Just see what is possibly underneath your nose. Jason Garrett has already pretty much thumb his nose up at the organization. You can pretty it up all you want.. The guy In my opinion does not really want to be here.. ( Save for another message board entry )
J. Schwartz what could have done to p$%# off the Ravens front office. /????

I havnt followed him at all but I dont see very many teams going after him. Maybe he isnt on the market for a HC gig?
And stop your doom and gloom ill-informed assumptions please. Until Garrett DOES say no, he is still weighing his options.

because Bisciotti & Cass are making this up as they go along

Actually, every other team has brought in Schwartz for interviews...The one with the Dolphins was basically a pit stop, they said he only interviewed for a couple hours and left, likely because they are working to hire Sparano.

IMO, football guys like Schwartz, Grimm, and Ryan, not to mention Marty (and Cowher) are Not in the Mold that the corporate brain trust is looking for!

:iagree:
Maybe Cass doesn't know who he is.

Ow! I just got hit in the head with a piece of falling sky while I read this thread.
Anyway, I think it's because the Ravens organization is trying as hard as they can to find the worst possible candidate they can hire, and won't rest until they make this team as undesirable, unsuccessful, and irrelevant as their baseball counterpart across the parking lot...
Or maybe, just maybe, they know a little bit more about this than we do, and have more vested interest in this team succeeding than anyone else, fans and media included. You know... like their livelihood? Their career? Their family's security?
And maybe, just maybe, everyone's favorite hometown boy Jim Schwartz isn't what we are looking for. Hell, if we want to bring in a defensive coordinator who's unit looks average when he is missing his best defensive lineman, we already have interviewed one - his name is Rex Ryan. And at least he'd bring some continuity, though I'm far from convinced he's Head Coaching material either.
So far, we've made one offer to coach this team, to a guy another franchise (a well-respected one at that) is willing to pay more to be their offensive coordinator than they pay their own head-coach. I'd say they've got their eyes focused on the right people.
I'll continue to trust the decision makers at the castle. Be my guest to do otherwise. And watch out for falling sky.
He is a candidate for HC gigs, there is no reason not to bring the guy in for a cup of coffee and some cake. Not doing so is short-sighted. We do have plenty of time while we wait for Garrett to tell us "Thanks, but no."

Wow. An admission that Garrett hasnt given his answer yet. There is hope in you yet!
He gave us an answer when he left. Perhaps you should check out your sarcasm meter.
Are you going to keep insulting other posters?

Greg needs to relax......
I am relaxed quite nicely, thanks. But this guy has insulted every poster he doesn't agree with them, like we need to be shown the light and are stupid.
This forum is above that and will remain above that.

"J. Schwartz what could have done to p$%# off the Ravens front office. /????"
Actually I do remember some animousity with the Tit's organization at one time. Whether it has any bearing is up for debate. Does anyone remember the controversy regarding what was being shown on the scoreboard during a game at Adelphi? All I can remember is that Jeff Fisher and Bilick were sniping at each other through the press, and the Ravens complained to the league office.

I get nothing in way of PM or remarks from others that I am insulting them. Yet you seem to speak for everyone?
Others seem to get my debates and sarcasm but you. You've been called out to relax, not me.
And please, if you have issues with what I say, you are 100% welcome to PM, IM, email me etc. Please dont voice your dissatisfaction of me through other posters. I will and always am more than willing to rephrase, clarify or ammend anything I say that may have offended you, Greg.
In the end, we're all on the same team here! :)
Just stop the insults and snide remarks.
The "relax" remark has to do with the fact that I think our organization doesn't have the stature it once had. Some think I am over-estimating the drop off in stature. I don't think I am. There was a time not too long ago when players and coaches WANTED to be here, mulling it over was not an issue.

If thats the case then Fuck 'em! Here's how it should be as of now: "You've got until 5:00pmEST to make a decision or we're moving on."
I still don't know whats so great about this guy?

You also have never interviewed a candidate for the head coahcign position of an NFL football team. He is the top option everywhere. Everyone thinks this guy is one of the brightest young minds in all of football.
Maybew he is trying to play JJ into giving him the HC job, now. I don't understand why everyone feels he needs to make a decision on the spot. Y'all are a bunch of used car salesmen. IF there is nothign worng with this job and he really is the top candidate, it should be his as long as it's still available.
Y'all are a bunch of used car salesmen.
I was employed at one time in auto sales. At least 96% of people who say they are coming back do not. That is why they work so hard to close you when you are there.
Maybe it is this knowledge that makes me think Garrett leaving was a polite, yet firm, "No thanks."

See that is the irony in my comment... I've spent a lot of time, recently, in the car business. If only 1 in 20 comes back, you are doing a HORRIBLE job. You create your own enemy, pressure them like they won't come back, and guess what, they don't. You may close a few more up front, but losing yoru be-back business is much worse in this more educated market. When there are so many options as there are now, and there is so much information available, now more then ever you have to have that respectful nature to plan ahead for the future. Today the buyer, without a doubt has the power in the transaction, just like Garrett does here. He is overwelmingly the top candidate available. It is his choice where he works. A take it or leave it approach will get us a leave it. He could take a bad job in ATL or more likely, not move his family, get that big pay raise, and stay in the comfortable OC position in DAL, or maybe even get Phillips pushed out.
I think it'd be a much better move to start interviewing the 2nd round. Bring back Harbaugh,l and mayeb a few more fresh choices, if Harbaugh is not deemed a close second choice, then wait it out. If he is a close second, offer a contract, if it's accepted great, if it's declined, then we worry.

There is a reason why Jim Schwartz isn't here and I am surprised that nobody hasn't figured it out. Remember he did work here for 3 years. That means there are some people who remember him well. Drew F. knows exactly why he is not being considered...but he isn't revealing the exact reason. Apparantly, the reasons are strong enough to disqualify him as a candidate.
My guess is that someone over at the Palace doesn't like him or remembers some issues with him, and therefore, they are not interviewing him. I am sure Ozzie knows all about it, since he has been here since the beginning. The bottom line is Schwartz is out, so we might as well move on and discuss the candidates who are being considered. Dreaming about Russ Grimm, Cowher, and anyone else who has not interviewed is simply a waste of time.

Jim Schwartz was and is my #1 choice for HC for the Baltimore Ravens. Truth, you can check the threads where I posted that.
But hell if I'm going to get excited because they are not interviewing him. Newsflash, we are *not* owed explanations on sensitive decisions made behind closed, locked doors.
I am 100% sure they KNOW who the coordinators and assistant coaches are, all the way around the league, even the ones not available to interview for a HC gig.
I am also 100% sure they have a REASON for not bringing in Schwartz for an interview. However
I am 99% sure they will NOT tell you what it is.
Some guesses, just for the heck of it:
1. Schwartz has made it clear through private channels he is not interested.
2. Schwartz as a young man, in a drunken stupor, picked a fight with a young Steve Bisciotti in a bar one time.
3. Schwartz has poor personal hygiene.
4. Schwartz has some quality, or qualities, known to our FO through some source, that make him an undesireable candidate.
Seriously, why the heck would they tell us what flaw in another person contributed to their decision not to interview him? How obnoxious would *that* be?

Exactly. I have no idea what the reason is, but there certainly must be a strong negative feeling about him from when he was here. And, IMO, it would have to come from Ozzie, Byrne or Moriarty (Bisciotti and Cass were not around then) since they would likely be the only ones with any juice to be offend back then and make it stick now.

I know Baltimoreans love fellow Baltimoremoreans but this Jim Schwartz talk is getting ridiculous. I listened to NST all day yesterday while working around my house and a few callers were ranting for 5-10 min about Schwartz not getting an interview.
Hello people, we don't know everything about the man. He's a hometown guy, whoopty doo. I am sure there is a reason why he isn't being considered.
