Hey All,
I rarely create new threads, but I saw this on the web and saw that there was nothing on the board, so here goes:
The Browns have fired their DC, so might Savage come looking for Rex?
Browns Fire Defensive Coordinator (http://sports.excite.com/news/01112008/v2142.html)
I know Rex is looking for a HC job, but maybe Savage could talk him into coming up to the Mistake by the Lake?
Lets hope not.

I wouldn't lose any sleep if Ryan ended up in Cleveland.
Same goes for any other team.

Wouldn't surprise me.
I could be wrong but wasn't Savage the one who plucked Anderson off our practice squad? And J Lewis and I'm sure there are others...

As much as I would hate to lose Rex to any other team, especially as a DC; I really think, that is going to happen. Sometimes you have to leave home in order to get where you need to go. It worked for Marvin Lewis. Rex may have to do the same.
Although I think Rex is great HC material for someone, I think something else is really holding him back. I have an idea what it is, but I hesistate to come out and say it. Let's just say, first impressions are lasting impressions.

I was just thinking that while I wish the best for Rex, I wouldn't want the
Ravens to have to play his defense twice a year.
Ravenwoman, are you thinking that perhaps his weight is a detriment? I know its been mentioned before, but any front office that passes him over on that is misguided.

It's about as possible as Rex to Cincy...Cincy is a little more plausible because Marvin Lewis is on the hot seat, Romeo Crennel is not.

As much as I don't want him as our HC I would not like to have to play his defenses twice a year either.
I seriously doubt his weight is a significant factor in interviews. There are several overweight HC's in the league. I would be more inclined to believe he may have some of the less desirable personality traits of his father that turn people off when he's interviewing.

Scally, I was referring to him as a DC candidate in Cleveland, not an HC.
AZ has a point, perhaps Rex's dad's reputation is what is keeping him from landing a HC gig. Although we don't know how closely he missed out on the Chargers gig last year.

Well, you can consider this topic officially dead ....

just to clarify, I was also talking about DC in Cincy. We know Marvin is safe, this year....My thought is that Rex will wait out all the HC gigs, and if he doesn't get any, he'll go be DC with a team where in two-three years time, he may have a shot as HC.
That said, Cleveland would've probably been a better situation for Rex. Cleveland is on the rise and him turning the Defense there into a dominating one would've probably given him more exposure, since their offense is also great and that;d probably turn Cleveland into a perennial playoff team. Cincy is a team in shambles from personal issues, egos, and lots of other problems. Rex as DC there would only be good if he can control the egos and turn them around, otherwise he'll sink along with Marvin Lewis.
In any case, glad Cleveland didn't get Rex.
